Hi I'm Lyndsey

I grew up in the north of England. I'm a single mum. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a northerner born and bred and love living in this part of the UK. Family is important to me and I have a fabulous daughter. I have had the greatest of adventures being a mum and look forward to many more. I studied Social Work at Manchester Metropolitan University and now work in the Social Housing Sector. I have a keen interest in sociology, especially group dynamics which has proved very useful in my line of work. I also love to read and have been known to dissapear into the pages because I can't stop reading until I get to the end!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert and it was the best decision I have ever made. I come from a church going family, so God and the Saviour have always been familiar. As I grew up, I began a journey to find my own understanding of the Gospel and what it meant to me personally. I attended several churches over the years and although I was happy, none seemed to fit what I felt in my heart was true. When I was about 30 I experienced a domino effect of changes of my life. I was made homeless and so I moved out of my area. This meant I had to leave my church and start again. I met someone at work who invited me to their chuch. I don't know why, but I was really nervous for days and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I was almost beside myself that Sunday and the then I walked through the doors to the chapel. I can't explain it other than to say I knew I was meant to be there. Over the following weeks I had the opportunity to meet with the missionaries and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. All those questions I had carried since my childhood were being answered and I knew I had finally found my place in the world.

How I live my faith

Being a member of this church has truly opened my eyes to what is around me. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day without allowing others to impact on your life and vice versa. I always try to think how the Saviour would treasure this day and act upon it - a kind word, a simple smile, offering a helping hand. I have had several callings since becoming a mormon. The majority has been in a teaching capacity. I love to share the Gospel with others, but my greatest blessing is the opportunity it gives you to learn and develop as a person. My favorite scripture can be found in Joshua, chapter 24 verse 15 "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" It hasn't always been easy, especially in this day and age, however I can say it is absolutely worth it.
