Hi I'm Jared

I am a husband. I am a package handler for a postal service. I want to be a high school seminary teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student currently studying to become a high school physics teacher, but I would love to teach high school students about the scriptures. I love spending time with my wife and doing anything from fishing and skeet shooting to solving physics problems and playing music. I am from a family of 5 boys and am recently married. I served a mission in Louisville, Kentucky and loved every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon makes me happy. I love that the teachings of Jesus Christ are so simple and beautiful, yet so profound as to enable us to study them our entire lives. I know that He is my Savior and that He has shown me the way to live. Being a member of His church helps me to follow Him in a way that brings joy to me and to others. I know that his church has been restored to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God. And I know that this church is built upon the revelations of Jesus Christ rather than on the philosophies of men. He lives and He loves us. He has given us so many ways to know that He cares.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday School class at church and do my best to visit members of our ward to share with them the teachings of our living prophets. I know that the world is full of all of us imperfect people, so I try my best to love everyone for who they are and try to do my part to find the best in others. The invitation from our Savior to love God and love our neighbor is something I am trying to incorporate into my character. I study the scriptures daily and I try to share the truths I hold dear with others. And I always try to keep in my perspective the price that has been paid for me by my Savior. He gives me the enabling power to do things that are hard.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jared
Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. No one makes it to heaven without Him. A lot of people assume that since we as Mormons try to keep the commandments that we are somehow trying to "earn" our way to heaven. I've heard it said "We are not earning heaven. We are learning heaven." We do our best to follow Jesus Christ and to do as He did. But none of what we are doing is in any way earning us closer to God. Jesus Christ paid ALL of our debt. He covers ALL of our sins, our imperfections, our mistakes, and our sorrows. He is the way to happiness. We keep commandments because of a desire to serve Him and to do as He did. He strive to be humble and submissive to what He asks of us, and by doing so, we can "have His spirit to be with [us]." So concerning grace, be believe wholeheartedly that "it is by grace that ye are saved." But if we are truly to trust in His grace, we are to trust in his commandments. Show more Show less
