Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Southern California, and attend the University of California of Davis and study Animal Science. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the church, and I love the Gospel! I love being able to share with my friends what my beliefs are, while being open to the beliefs of my friends. I enjoy hanging out with friends and want to follow Christ's example of helping others with their problems and hopefully help others come to know Christ. I love animals; in fact, I would love to own a ranch someday! During my free time, I draw, hang out with friends, go to the movies, and go to other church activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I would have to say that it is because of the things that have been confirmed to me by the Holy Spirit; I have learned that he has no body so that he can reside in our minds and hearts. There is so much happiness found in the Church, and I feel as if I have only tapped into a very small portion of the happiness that our Heavenly Father wants us to have. God is great!

How I live my faith

I'm a member of the Institute Council at the university that I attend, and I help plan activities for other young single adults. I do my best to attend church weekly and encourage others to attend as well.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Laura
It is encouraged for Mormon women to be supportive of the men in the church because they hold the priesthood, which allows us to perform ordinances and receive the power of the Holy Ghost. We definitely believe in the equality of men and women. Although they share different responsibilities (men: provider of the family and priesthood holder; women: rear children and care for the family), we believe that we are all equal in the Lord's eyes.
