Hi I'm Garrett Smith

I am a full time missionary in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I love being a missionary and I love my Savior. I know he loves me and I love letting others know that he loves them. I grew up in the South and I'm pretty southern at heart, but I know that because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I can be happy wherever I am. I love music, and I love playing guitar, ukulele, and singing. I love my family, and I plan on having one of my own in the near future. But for now I love being a missionary, and sharing what I know with others. I hope to honor my Father in Heaven and my family (current and future family) while I am serving.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to this religion by my family, and for most of my life that was my reason for being "Mormon". I also like the religion because the values taught in its doctrine are a formula for success. But when I came on a mission and started sharing my beliefs, I realized that I had to find out for myself if all of this was true or not. I studied everything I could get my hands on and I read the Book of Mormon twice. I then got down on my knees and asked my Father in heaven if this church, and the Book of Mormon were true. The answer I received was yes. I am now a "Mormon" because I have received my own personal witness that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that its true. Being a Mormon makes me happy and I watch it make others happy every day. I enjoy comfort and peace because I know where I came from, what my purpose here on earth is, and where I am going when this life is over.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following God's commandments, serving others, and by applying the principles of Christ's Gospel to my life. I try to emulate my Savior and although I am far from perfect, I plan on being the best that I possibly can. I live my faith by keeping an eternal perspective and using that perspective to make decisions. I pray a ton, I study the scriptures every day, and I am constantly looking for ways to be better. The biggest way that I feel I can live my faith is by loving others without condition, and seeing them as Christ does.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Garrett Smith
One can know that "Mormonism" is true by sincerely studying the Book of Mormon and then asking God if the Book is true or not. When a sincere desire to know is present, the Holy Spirit will provide feelings of peace, warmth, and comfort. When someone really reads and prays about the Book of Mormon, they will know with a surety that it is true, and as a result they will know that the rest of the church and "Mormonism" is also true. Its as easy as reading and praying, and if someone is humble enough and sincere enough they'll get their answer. And the answer will be that it is true. Show more Show less
