Hi I'm Josh Beames

I'm an Artist, I'm a Singer, I love being Happy, I'm a Missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently 21 years old. I served my mission in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and I Loved it! Ever since I was like 2 I have had 3 major passions in life: Art, Music, and Dinosaurs! By the age of 10 I probably knew well over 100 Dinosaur names! As for the other two passions, I got my artistic talent from my biological father, and my musical talent from my Mother. I Love to sing and play the piano. I was in two plays in High school: Grease and Peter Pan, in the later i was one of the Lost boys! I love everything that has to do with Art! I plan on being an architect if I can get the math down. Or anything that has to do with designing, so long as it stays within the moral boundaries of my faith. I enjoy watching sci-fi shows/movies and I love going to midnight showings with my friends! I love my family that was given to me by my loving Father in Heaven! And I love my Savior Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was taught the Truth in the Early stages of my life! I was born into the Church. I grew up knowing that there is a prophet of God on the earth! I come from a family that has had two devorces. My mom and Biological Dad split up and my Moms Husband or my technical Step-Father was devorced and then he adopted my sister and I when I was 11, after my Biological Dad basically gave us up. I have had little to no communication in over 8 years. I have every reason under the sun to be mad that my life hasn't turned out the best but then I have every reason under Heavan to thank my loving heavenly father for alowing these trials to mold me into the man I am today! I am currently serving a mission in Pittsburgh PA and I love it! I have done things in my life that I am not proud of in the least and I have a couple of scars that I will have to deal with forthe rest of my life but I am thankful that I am passing through the Refiners Fire to have the Celestial shine in my life! I will continue the actions of my Wonderful mother and teach my kids the principles of righteousness and I will show them the only way through salvation is through Jesus Christ! I have read the Book of Mormon and I understand that it is of divine authenticity! I know that we have a prophet of God leading us today through the many dangerous waters of life! I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus is the Savior of the world!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping others come to know of the gospel! I am a fulltime missionary that is trying his hardest to not get discouraged by the many evils of the world and the almost hoplessness of humanity as it trys to hold on to false hope! I live my faith by helping others hold on to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ that has been restored to the Earth!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Josh Beames
The book of Mormon is exactly what it says on the cover, another testiment that Christ is the savior and redeemer of the world. Some call it the "Mormon Bible" but that is not so. The Book of Mormon and Bible testify of each other and support each other. They are both special witnesses that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God! Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Josh Beames
It is amazing. "We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ,... that our Children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." (2 Nephi 25: 26) Knowing that our beliefs are centered around such an amazing individual brings joy to my soul. That's not to say there are not troubling times in our lives but there is hope because we know why we are down here and how we can return to live with our father in heaven. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Josh Beames
Personally when I have good news, I just want to share it with everyone I know! I am the same way when it comes to being a missionary! I have been serving to about 4 months and I have met people who have gone through amazing changes because of the Gospel! I know what I would be like if I didn't have this gospel and I never, NEVER, want to be that. Now that I know we can ALL be saved I just want everyone to share the Joy I have felt knowing there is a loving heavenly father out there! Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Josh Beames
When we go to church on sunday we dress in our Sunday best! So for us guys we put on button up shirts and ties and slacks. the women stick to modest dresses, skirts, etc. We also regard Christmas and Easter as the two most Spiritual days of the year because of the Birth and the Death and the Resurrection of the Savior. We don't just celebrate those holidays though, we do recognize all of the other holidays too. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Josh Beames
We Believe that families can be together forever! We "will be coupled with eternal glory" when we are sealed for time and all eternity! It's not just to death do us part! Our stories can literally live on happily ever after! It may be a bold doctrine to some but this is our Fathers plan for his children! Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Josh Beames
We encourage members and nonmembers alike to study for them selves the political issues and then decide which one follows as closely with the standards of the gospel as they can see. We, as members do not take sides in politics but as American citizens we chose who we believe will best serve the country. Joseph Smith said in our 13 articles of faith: "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." As we do our duties as citizens of what ever our country is, we are helping the work go fourth by keeping the government where it is in accordance with our church. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Josh Beames
As a Mormon Missionary I go out every day and tell people about this wonderful Gospel and we usually tell them about the Book of Mormon when we strike up a conversation. When we tell them how it came to be it is usually along the lines of a Prophet translated them by the gift and power of God. Now to me that is not strange at all but I have been realizing more and more that this is the weirdest thing some people have ever heard! I just laugh inside to think that I could expect them to find that normal! But then I tell them how I know that it is true. In the last chapter of the Book of Mormon we find that it says that if we ask God in the name of Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. "And by the Power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things." I believe that with all my heart! I have tested it. I have proved it. If there is one thing that helps a person come to the knowledge of truth its by testing it. Prove this statement. Try it for your self and I promise if you "ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ" the Lord will let you know wither it's true or not. Show more Show less
