Hi I'm Harlan Pooley

I was raised in Idaho playing football and working on a farm.

About Me

I work for the City and County of Denver where I manage a team of Database Administrators. I came to Colorado because of work. I selected the City and County of Denver because I felt I could make a difference there. I love the outdoors and the clean air that Colorado provides. It is a great place to raise a family. Colorado is rich with good people and natural resources. I love to explore, camp, golf, and hunt in this great state. After living in 5 other states I feel that I am finally home.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a family that was split on the subject of religion. My mother joined the Church when I was five but my father had no interest in religion. There was a constant battle in our home as to what to believe in. My dad worked hard so Sunday's were often his only day off. He wanted to do things that were fun like playing sports, riding motorcycles, camping, and hunting. During these times we rarely we went to Church but I felt there was something missing in my live. I found the truths I had been searching for when I began to study the scripture and the teaching of the Church for my self. First it was the Bible where I gained a testimony of Jesus Christ and his mission and sacrifice for me. Later I read the Book of Mormon and felt that it too was the word of God. These too books along with the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints answered the burning questions I had that could not be answered by any other religion. Not only did I receive the answers to my questions but had a witness that they were true. I'm a Mormon because it teaches truths that stand the test of time and can be validated through the Holy Ghost. This is The Church of Jesus Christ. It contains all of his teachings and is filled with his spirit of which you can truly feel.

How I live my faith

I attend my Church every Sunday and participate in many other Church related activities. I continue to study my faith and try every day to practice it's teachings. My goal is to follow the Savior in every way possible. I try understand who he truly was, what he taught, and how he lived and then work every day to make those traits my own. His teachings influence every aspect of my life. My association with my Church helps strengthen me and gives me the opportunity to help others. Everyone has an opportunity to serve in our Church. My wife and I spent four years teaching Sunday School to a group of seven and eight year old children. We all give talks and fill Church assignments (callings) that give us growth and fulfillment I love to be in Church every Sunday with my family and feel of the spirit of our Savior and drink from the living water.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Harlan Pooley
It is where you find truth. Answers to all of your questions about God and his son Jesus Christ. Not only will you find the truth but it can be proven to you through the Holy Ghost if we will but read and ask the lord to know. The church is full of people who do more than just believe. They know that what is taught there is true. When others take a good hard look at the teachings and open their hearts they too can know that what they are being taught is true. The last chapter in the Book of Mormon conveys this message very clearly. Read the whole chapter but two key verses tells it all: Moroni Chapter 10, verses 4 - 5 4. And when ye shall receive these tings, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. If you want to know what the truth is come and see for yourself. Those that take an honest look and sincerely pray to know receive answers and join the church. This is why it grows so much. This is why we want to share it with everyone that we meet. It brings clarity to the confusing world we live in. Show more Show less
