Hi I'm Dan Brooks

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a writer. I'm enrolling in college to get a theological degree. I'm a step dad to 4 girls and have a lovely wife. I have recently come back to the church.

Why I am a Mormon

When I fell away from the church around the age of 12 I was a firm Atheist. I studied philosophy then I had a religious craving I just couldn't satisfy so I went to every church I could find, synagogues and Buddhist temples. I felt good but never felt "at home." I had refused to go to an LDS church but I kept searching everyother church to find one that felt right. When my wife asked me to go to church with her I begrungingly accepted. And after a matter of weeks I felt completely at home I felt as if I had finally come home. I was no longer spiritually starving, I was filled. And I was happy. I feel as if I have a purpouse and I am excited to do my best to live the gospel by taking care of my family, fellow church members and anyone in need whom I can help. There is enough for all if we all share the burdens of life, and our own will become lighter in the process.

How I live my faith

I take care of my family, fellow ward members and anyone in need whom I can help. I blog on line at www.ldsviews.blogspot.com, to just speak about religious issues important to me and many people I know. It is important to live the gospel but you must also share it, if you have a light you must let it shine not hide it. I really don't think you can have one without the other.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Dan Brooks
Yes, we simply accept the book of Mormon along with it (another testament of Jesus Christ and a record of God's dealings with the peoples of the ancient Americas) as well as The Doctrine and Covenants, a collection of revelations and inspired declarations. And the Pearl of Great Price, a selection of revelations, translations, and writings of Joseph Smith. If you have questions ask me or ask a missionary but the best thing to do that aside is to pray for an answer. To ask the spirit to be with you and confirm or deny the truth of these scriptures.
