Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Pueblo Colorado. I have 5 brothers and no sisters. I have been a Mormon all my life and I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married to the best man ever and a mother of 4 wonderful children (3 boys and 1 girl) and a grandmother of 3beautiful grandchildren. I am very thankful for my husband, children, their spouses, grandchildren, my parents, brothers and sister's-in-laws, etc. I like to spend time with my family. I like to go camping and spending time in the canyons near my home. I enjoy singing hymns, especially singing parts. I also enjoy sewing, playing the piano, learning new things, and my newest pastime is finding out about my ancestors. I enjoy serving others and visiting with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. As I grew up in the church I remember how I felt when we sang the hymns during our services. I gained my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through these songs. I especially remember as a young woman while attending college, President Spencer W. Kimball (President of the Church at the time) was coming to speak to us at Ricks College (now BYU Idaho). When he walked into the room, I felt the Spirit of the Lord and I knew that this Church was true. I have had many of those special feelings from the Spirit in my life and treasure those warm wonderful feelings. I love being a member of the Church (a Mormon) and know that the Lord Jesus Christ lives! He knows and loves me personally as well as every other person. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today (President Thomas S. Monson) and that he receives inspiration for the church and its members. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints upon the earth again as it was in the meridian of times when Christ was on the earth. I am thankful for my ancestors and others who sacrificed and lived in such a way that today I can enjoy being a Mormon and want to share this wonderful blessing and testimony with other people. I believe that we are all brothers and sisters and are here to learn from each other and help one another.

How I live my faith

I love attending the church each week. I enjoy the friendships of the people in my ward and neighborhood and also enjoy learning about Jesus Christ and trying to improve myself each day to become more like Him. I am a Family History Consultant in my ward and work a shift every week in the Family History Center near my home. I have learned a few things about a some of my ancestors and love finding stories about them. I enjoy getting to know the women in our ward and visit with them individually and attend activities as a group to strengthen each other and learn to love and serve each other.
