Hi I'm Jonathon

I'm a husband, father of two, engineering student, avid tinkerer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Alaska where I loved the outdoors. I spent many days hiking, camping, skiing, rafting, fishing and hunting. I now am working for a restaurant and seeking my mechanical engineering degree in Idaho and have a wonderful family. I have two wonderful children a girl of 5 and a boy of 1. The light of my life is my wife and I am so happy that she chose me to be with of all the guys that are surely more wonderful than I.

Why I am a Mormon

My whole family are members of the church, so I grew up going to church and it was just something I always did. When I went off to college and struck out on my own things were different. There wasn't really anyone that knew me and I could do what I pleased. I found that I did enjoy going to church for myself at this time and I decided then for sure that I wanted to go on a mission. I was a mormon missionary for 2 years in Uruguay and then came back to the United States to continue with my schooling and professional career. I decided that I would continue to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it helps me to have purpose in my life. Keeps my focus when I'm down and helps me to learn how to be happy no matter where I am. I know it, I live it, I love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping myself clean. I know what helps me to be happy (being kind, serving others, learning, growing) and I try to do it as well as I can and encourage others to do it as well. I love to read talks and speeches from General Conference and love to read about Christ. I want to be like Christ when I grow up.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Jonathon
I, having been a missionary myself, am able to give a very personal reason to this question. I have seen countless wonders and blessings in my life and was eager to share it as a missionary. If you have a wonderful event or experience or knowledge, you share it to build others up! I am still a missionary, though I no longer walk around in white shirts and ties every day. I have a mission to share the happiness that I have found through Jesus Christ with all I can, whether it be at work, school, or play. Show more Show less
