Hi I'm Kara

My mom is a convert. I love music and dance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music and dancing. It's how I am able to express my feelings. I can't imagine my life without music. I started singing in a choir when I was in fourth grade and I don't plan on ever stopping. Most of my time I spend with my friends and family. I take care of my younger sister a lot because I love her and also consider her my answered prayer. I have always wanted a younger sister and I did actually pray for one. However, I got a younger brother when I was 3. It wasn't until I was 13 that I got the little sister I always wanted.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad grew up in the church and my mom is a convert. Because of them, I am a Mormon. I am not a member because it's all I've known. I feel like it makes me an uplifting and influential person. Therefor, it's all I want to be.

How I live my faith

I lead the 16-18 year old girls in my church. I help plan what the young women, as we call them, will do when we meet every Wednesday night for mutual. I and three other girls contact the girls and the less active in our ward and invite them to these activities. This way, we can become closer friends and just spend time with one another. We usually play games, sports, or even activities with the young men. That's how I participate in my ward. In my community, I just like talking to people and making them feel like they can talk to me. I like to get involved in school and make new friends. When I make a new friend, they seem to understand that my religion is not so crazy and foreign.

What is faith?

Kara
Faith is to "hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Book of Mormon, Alma 32:21). Also, it's knowing things that are not seen are true. Sounds like it's simple knowledge but with faith you have to know something is there even though you don't see it. Like the wind, we feel it and see it move trees, but we can't actually SEE the wind. Same as having faith in God. We don't see Him, but we can feel his presence, love, and comfort. We can see Him bless the lives of those who keep his commandments. Faith is knowing God is there and that He lives even though we can't see Him. Show more Show less
