Hi I'm Ron

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. I work as a computer programmer in the health insurance field. I have been a member of the church since I was a young teenager, but I was inactive for most of my life but no one gave up on me and my family. I have been active since 2012 when my wife became a member of the Church and soon after our daughter as well. I now have opportunities to be involved in the Elders Quorum Presidency and teach, lead our Ward Family Home Evening activities and also lead a group scripture study class to prepare for the upcoming Sunday school class. I love being involved in community work in my town and while in Ohio I was president of our tree commission, ran an annual community yard sale and participated in drug addiction programs to help reduce the impact of addiction on peoples lives. Those experiences have helped me understand people and circumstances outside of myself and enable me to reach those that are struggling to find the life the Lord wants for them. I have a testimony of this church and can feel the changes that it makes in my life and those around me. I know that the Presidency of this church is lead and inspired by the Lord and constantly feeds me with wisdom beyond myself so that I can be more than I am.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was converted in the 1960's and took my sister and I to church in our youth and as often as he could get us to go in our teens. I was not really clear on the Mormon faith though and distanced myself from it throughout my life and later visited churches of my family members. I found the other churches more confusing to me though and after some time and persistence by missionaries we have found our faith and restored ourselves in the church for good. As I have continued to learn and better understand the principles of the gospel and how it blesses lives I have become more converted to Jesus Christ. I feel my spirit moved to do His will and seek to stay in tune with the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Each day I pray that I can focus on doing the things that will please the Lord. The little things matter, like making an extra effort to be courteous on less than hospitibal highways during rush hour, being a good employee and co-worker and applying all of my talents to help the team succeed. My first duty is to my wife and family so I try to shake of anything that may have followed me home from work and greet them with a fresh, pleasant attitude and seek to find out how their day has been. I make myself available to teach as many classes as are needed in our Ward throughout the week and on Sunday. I also make myself available to the missionaries as often as they need me and even on short notice so that I can support them, the investigator or member they are meeting with and also myself by immersing myself in the spirit of the visits. I also provide rides to members who are unable to drive so that they can attend church and other activities. I seek to build relationships with the people of my Ward, most of whom I have not had long histories with, so that we can have strong bonds that are not easily broken by the small things in life. I find that taking the time to revisit General Conference talks and reading new material in books or manuals helps keep me focused. When I am focused on the Lord, work and community become much easier so it only makes sense to set my priorities in that order. I always consider myself a work in progress and continue to strive to stay focused. I follow the profit and pray to know the truth in what is shared by him so that I am able to sustain him with full confidence provided by the Holy Ghost.
