Hi I'm Becky

I'm the mother of 5 children & grandma of 3 grandkids. I grew up in southern California & worked in education in KY.

About Me

I love my children, grandchildren, college sports, outdoors, music, reading, and eating anything chocolate! My children are grown now...and I'm still adjusting to an empty nest...but I have wonderful and rather crazy memories of raising 5 children and all of the jumbled and tumbled activities and schedules that entailed! Throw in a part time teaching job and volunteer activities, and I still wonder how life all came together...but what a fun and exciting time it was! We have moved from beautiful Kentucky to beautiful Washington state and are starting a new and still busy life here near my in-laws. How can my schedule still be so full without any children living at home? I'm still trying to figure that one out! I hope to get to my projects that have been waiting for about 25 years...but...I saw a bumper sticker once which said...."If I live until my projects are finished...I'll live forever!" Maybe that isn't so bad!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church...my ancestors joining the church generations ago. I will forever be grateful that those ancestors recognized the truth of the gospel and sacrificed so much...allowing me to have the blessings of the gospel throughout my life. Nonetheless I needed to receive my own testimony. I remember reading the Book of Mormon when I was 14 and praying to know that it was true. (Sitting in a little corner of the living room behind a huge potted rubber tree plant...my own private space!) I received my answer...and continue to have that answer confirmed every time I read that marvelous book. My testimony is confirmed as I read the Bible as Christ's teachings in both books support each other. My testimony is strengthened as I go through each day receiving my own personal revelation to guide me....as I pray to a loving Heavenly Father....as I know that my Savior has died for my sins and has provided a pathway back to live with him. My children tell my I'm OCD as I love order in my life. (How did that work with 5 children? I'm still looking for that order!) But...the gospel is perfectly ordered....it makes sense...it explains eternal questions. It gives me a guide for my life. I truly have no idea where I would be or what I would be doing without the gospel in my life. It is a rather scary thought! I am grateful each day that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

How I live my faith

My faith is such a part of my life that I can't imagine life without it! Right now I am a public affairs director for my stake and in this capacity have had the marvelous opportunity to connect with leaders of the community, other faiths, and service groups in working for the betterment of the people in our area. I have worked with the teenagers and young children for most of my married life, and I believe that was the most rewarding....and exciting....experience! Nothing like chaperoning girl's camp while battling bugs, dripping through humidity, motivating non-hikers on hikes, and sharing in the blessing of watching young women grow in self-esteem and the love of the Savior and their Heavenly Father.
