Hi I'm Katherine

I grew up in Virginia. I'm an English Major. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I wasattending college and studying to be an English Major, but now I am serving a mission in Kobe, Japan. I love reading more than eating or breathing (which is saying something because I also love to eat). Curling up with a good book (preferably Harry Potter) and a fuzzy blanket is my idea of an afternoon well spent. I love to write, and maybe one day I'll actually put one of my many story ideas on paper. I'm really interested in the Japanese culture and language, and have been studying it since high school, so being called to serve in Japan was one of the most sacred experiences of my life! I love the Lord, I love the Japanese people, and I love serving a mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it to be true. I don't know where I would be without it - it helps guide me to be a better person than I could ever be on my own. It is my strength and compass. I know with all my heart that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and that He died so that I might return to Him someday. I know the Book of Mormon is true with every fiber of my being, and cannot deny it. It answers my questions and helps me become a better person. I love this gospel and my Father in Heaven with all my heart, and that is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time by just doing the little things. I smile at somebody on campus. I give flowers to a friend who preformed in a play. I support my friends in their endeavors. As I try to be like Jesus in my everyday life, I am able to bring those around me closer to Him simply through my example. People learn to respect me for my high standards (such as no cursing, no drinking, no drugs, etc) and even adopt such standards themselves. I might be young, but I don't let that stop me from striving to live the way Christ did, be it through talking to someone sitting alone at lunch or listening to someone who just needs to talk. As a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I invite others to come unto Christ so that they might have a strengthened faith in Him.
