Hi I'm Shayla

I grew up in Hong Kong. I love to travel. I'm a city girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I had studied at BYUH for around 6 months before coming back to Hong Kong to submit my mission papers. Now, I'm a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the California Rancho Cucamonga mission. Travelling is one of my favourite things to do and I'm blessed to have gone on a few trips with my mum. When travelling, I was amazed by the amazing creations which God had given us. Admiring those creations left a profound impression on me that no doubt there's a Supreme Being.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. However, I didn't really think about or understand what had been taught at church when I was a kid. When I was a bit older, I wanted to know it for myself. I didn't have a dramatic experience to know the gospel was true. Yet, my testimony came when I strived to live the gospel. Now, I understand the gospel is everything to me. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings true happiness to my life. Being a Mormon is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Knowing why I am on this earth and what I should do here and where I will go after this life help me push forward in a challenging world.

How I live my faith

I believe living my faith means striving to do what's right every single day. I study the Book of Mormon and hope to be a little better each day. Although things can be hard from time to time, the gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace to my soul and I know it will be alright in the end. As I try to do my best and do what God wants me to do, I know I'm living my faith.
