Hi I'm Linda

I am a wife, mother, grandmother and teacher. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to Lee and we have six children with 8 (soon to be 9) grandchildren. I have recently been called to be a full-time missionary in the Alaska Anchorage Mission as a Military Relations Specialist. My husband was in the military for 22 years and I was a military wife during all of that time and now I am a military mom of an infantry soldier in the Army. With these experiences, I hope to be able to be of service and help strengthen others who are away from home and family while they serve in the military.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18 years old I heard someone say, "If you spend 1/2 hour a day with the Lord, you'll spend eternity with Him." I thought, "I can spend half an hour if that's what it takes to spend eternity with the Savior!" So I try really hard to spend time every day reading the scriptures, writing in my journal, praying and pondering in order to learn what I need to improve in so I can be the type of person who is worthy to be in the Savior's presence for eternity. I need guidance every day from the scriptures so I can feel peace and joy as I work through challenges in my life and help in repenting when I make mistakes. When it would get tricky to find the time and place (especially when children were tiny), I turned part of my closet into my quiet sanctuary. I love reading the scriptures, especially the words of Isaiah and the Book of Mormon. I know these prophets knew the Savior so can help me know Him too. I also take time every week to go to the temple because I want to be with my family forever. I know God is real and wants me to have joy now and forever. That is why he organized a Church that provides the true doctrine of Jesus Christ so I can have complete faith in Him and his words. I have had His Spirit testify to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know it is because when I follow its teachings, I feel the fruits of the Spirit which are peace and joy. When I don't, I feel frustrated. Jesus has saved me and I love Him. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have had a lot of different assignments in the Church from the little children to the older women. One of my assignments was with the young women ages 12-18. The church has a program outlined to help them called the Personal Progress program. It helps them learn how to set goals and achieve them while making progress in their spiritual and physical lives. The areas they work on are Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue. I decided to do the Personal Progress myself and have been able to tell a difference in how it helped me improve. I have also been helping teach songs to the children ages 18 months-12 years old in the Primary. I love the power of music and how it blesses our lives when we take these songs and place them in our hearts. I love the opportunities of serving others while doing my callings. The more I get to know those I serve, the more I can't help but love them, which has brought me a lot of blessings.
