Hi I'm Steve

I'm a Mormon. My wife and I have raised our family as we lived in Utah, Texas, Germany, and Colorado. We LOVE to serve.

About Me

My wife and I have raised a diverse family of six--each, in turn, so very different. We love what they have taught us along the way. We continue to serve as we can. We are disciples of Jesus Christ. I love the mountains of Colorado. I enjoy them more fully during the winter ski season. I am retired now and can spend even more time pondering and then doing. I had served as an OBGYN physician for 26 years.

Why I am a Mormon

There have been many opportunities along the path of my life to turn away from the Savior. It has always been my choice. I have determined through personal prayer and a study of Christ's life and teachings, that I am happiest when I am more concerned about others welfare than my own. It is important to me to know that God lives, to know that Jesus Christ is actually His Son, and to know that His atonement is the very key to helping me return home to live with my Father in Heaven. The entire purpose of this Church is to help us go home -- it's ordinances with proper authority, its clear and understandable doctrine that mirrors what the Savior taught when he was in Jerusalem and later in America, its meetings, its activities -- it all leads home. I know the Savior died for our sins if we but do our best to change and become like Him. I know He is a resurrected being of flesh and bone with a glorified body that will never die. I cherish the knowledge that we too -- all of us-- will receive a resurrected body and live forever. This life is the most critical time of our eternal existence. I know these things only from the peace of the Holy Ghost that has rested upon me. It is a promise to all men and women, to all nationalities, to all religious creeds and philosophies. If you pray earnestly to know if a certain teaching or church is true, God will tell you by the power of the Holy Ghost -- a feeling of peace and certainty that surpasses all understanding. What comfort this provides in a world so filled with turmoil and unpredictability. There is purpose in this mortality. There was a plan laid out before we came. There are wonderful opportunities for us beyond this earthly existence. We will live again just as Christ does. What could be more important news than that?

How I live my faith

I have spent innumerable hours in serving others of our faith and those not of our faith. I love the feelings that come from selfless service. A wonderful opportunity to be like the Savior is given to us when we make monthly visits to homes of fellow members. We can listen to one another's concerns and challenges. We can offer words of hope from scriptures and modern prophets and apostles. We can pray together and pronounce blessings with the authority of God. I have had many blessings from teaching youth and adults of our faith over the years. One of my most humbling opportunities was to serve others in far away Ethiopia. I also brought the news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to the wonderful people of Germany where I served as a missionary for two years. My wife and I currently are serving as missionaries for our Church and love every minute of it! We echo the statement of a young convert to the Church: It's true, isn't it! Then what else matters? We teach of Christ; we rejoice in Christ; we are blessed by Christ.
