Hi I'm Stanley Scott Dye

I am a missionary serving in the Texas Houston East Mission. I'm a singer and I love to bike, run, and play any sport.

About Me

I grew up with my 5 older sisters, all are married now. I enjoy photography. I love to play video games, play sports, and juggle for fun. I enjoy going outside to share the gospel. I love to sing songs of praise to my Lord and God.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in middle school I felt like I had no one to turn to, I had lost my grandpa and beloved dog with less than a year between their deaths. I occasionally had the feeling that I needed to pray to God and ask him for help. I shrugged off the idea most of the time because I felt like I was doing just fine, I was doing well in school and had a lot of friends, everything that a young man needed. I did many things that I am not proud of because I had lost sight of many of my beliefs. Later, I found that I wasn't in control, I wanted to change what I was doing, but I couldn't, I was stuck. Eventually I decided to just give prayer a try because it couldn't hurt to just try. I didn't see a change and I didn't find the help that I felt I needed until after middle school. I went to Zion's Camp, a week long campout for young men, with my stake and found out that one of my friends had the same problems that I had. In the same summer as Zion's Camp I went to Especially For Youth, a youth retreat, with one of my sisters and two of my friends. During both Zion's Camp and EFY I was constantly reminded to read my scriptures and pray. I found that the church had firm beliefs and lessons for me to hold on to, I also found that true friends are ones that lift you up. I learned that God is our Heavenly Father and cares for us and wants to help us. He stands with his arms outstretched, but it must be our choice to go to him. During that summer, I finally had chosen to go to him and let him help me. He hasn't left my side yet, I love my Savior and Father in Heaven. He is the only one who can truly say, I know what you went through and how you felt. He is our friend and rescuer.

How I live my faith

I still have problems, the same as everyone else, but I now find the help I need to continue improving. I now understand the Atonement of Christ and apply it. The more I learn, the more I feel the need to change. As I have been changing for the better I have felt the desire to serve others and serve God. I know these things have helped me, so I decided to serve a mission. I am currently serving in the Texas Houston East Mission and loving every moment of it. I have found the most joy out of serving others and helping accept Christ's grace into their lives.
