Hi I'm Miriam

I was born in Utah and spent my childhood in Central Illinois. I'm a happy Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who wouldn't mind majoring in a little bit of everything. Ideally, I'd find a major that incorporated my love for theater with my passion for visual arts, allowed me to write and edit publications, demanded knowledge of psychology and physiology, and incorporated plenty of peer counseling and human interaction. Right now, the world is wide open to me and I intend to embrace it. I will be serving a mission in Costa Rica from February 2013 to August 2014. I cannot wait to share the happy message of the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people there.

Why I am a Mormon

“What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?” -George Eliot. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints enables me to be the person I want to be by providing opportunities for me to see how I ought to treat my fellow man. At this religion's core is love; it was born of love and will live on because of love. The Church emphasizes service and community. Jesus Christ said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" (Matthew 22). The Church is about finding joy, which comes from love. I know that this gospel is true because I have experienced it. I have felt my God's love for me and for my family and friends and could never deny it. I am a Mormon and I want to tell that to others because I want everyone to have the opportunity to experience this same kind of joy.

How I live my faith

I've been given many and various opportunities to serve in my church. I have served as a leader of young women, ages 12 and 13, at summer camps. I have been asked to direct community theater productions. I have taught 4 and 5 year olds in Sunday school. I have been in charge of organizing and printing programs for weekly worship services. I have served as a council member for the seminary organization that teaches scripture courses at a local high school. I have loved serving in these capacities and always look forward to the fulfillment they bring.
