Hi I'm Jeff Mickelsen

I'm a Mormon, currently serving a mission in McAllen, Texas

About Me

I am 21 years old and on a mission for 2 years to serve Jesus Christ and help others come unto him by applying his teachings to their life. Nothing brings me greater satisfaction right now in my life than waking up at 630, studying the Book of Mormon and Bible, and by testifying and talking to as many people as possible in the heat of Southern Texas. I enjoy playing basketball, the piano, the guitar, and reading. After 2 years of serving in Texas I will continue learning and attending college at Brigham Young University.

Why I am a Mormon

It is true I have had the privelage of being raised in this religion by righteous parents all my life, however their comes a point where one must gain their own personal testimony and convictions of the truthfulness of this church and gospel established by Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our master, Reedemer, Advocate, and the Father of Salvation. I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father lives, hears, and answers our prayers. I am a Mormon because I know there is a plan for us. We came from the presence of our Father in Heaven. What we do now on this earth will depend on our works and faith. After this life we will live again and be judged. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it countless times, studied it, pondered its teachings, and prayed and asked my Heavenly Father if it is true. I know it is true because the Holy Ghost has enlightened my understanding. My desires to serve God, become like him, and become a better person have increased. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and servant of God and that though God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ the church which holds the priesthood power and authroity to perform saving ordinances such as baptism was restored by him. I'm a Mormon because I know families can be sealed together forever in temples of God.

How I live my faith

How one lives their faith comes down to how well he or she develops the Christ like attribute of charity. "And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniqutiy but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, enureth all things. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all..."( Moroni 7:46-57) The Greatest teacher and Master of all, Jesus Christ, taught by example, and the greatest and quickest learner will follow by example. How I live my faith is by striving to become more like the Saviour. To think what he would think, say what he would say, do what he would do, and strive to become a small fraction of what he has become. I live my faith by asking myself: What more can I do to fullfill promises I have made with Him? I live my faith by daily trying to emulate the life of Jesus Christ and developing the Christlike attribute of charity. I live my faith by striving to live His commandments even when I don't fully understand them. I live my faith by reading in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, praying, and attending church every Sunday. I live my faith by striving to love others and demonstrate charity towards all men. I live my faith by honoring my priesthood.
