Hi I'm Mary Newton

I like to have outdoor adventures with my husband and three young kids. I like to jog with my friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the oldest in a family of six kids in a small town in Canada. While in college, I met and married my husband. After graduating in accounting and working for a few years, I quit to be a full-time Mom. I love to read with my kids. I like to save old clothes and make them into something new. I am running a half-marathon and a twelve-person relay this summer with my husband. I like to eat cookie dough, walk to the library and reconcile my bank accounts.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me about Jesus Christ and I grew up going to church. When difficult things happened to my parents, I saw the strength and peace that a relationship with Jesus Christ brought. During a particularly trying experience as a teenager, I experienced very personally how prayer, church attendance and obedience to God's commandments made me a better, happier person. I continue to follow His gospel because doing so gives me the tools I need to make the best of all of life's experiences. I am a better wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sibling and friend when I rely on Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I volunteer at church as a secretary in our womens organization where we organize activities, participate in service projects and make individual visits to help care for others. I am specifically assigned to care for three women in our church congregation. I try to be a good neighbor and reach out in friendship to those who live on my street, specifically the elderly. I read scriptures and pray daily and ask for God's help to treat others as He would. My husband and I pray and read scriptures with our children. We have a special lesson once a week where we teach our children on a particular topic. We attend church as a family every week.
