Hi I'm Alan

I am a husband, father, and educator. I believe in Christ, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a first-generation American on my mother’s side, my maternal grandparents having come from the former Soviet Union. I attended college a little later in life before beginning a very rewarding career in education, first teaching and then as a school administrator. My sweet wife and I have four children. When not spending time with them, I am hopefully underwater or on a bicycle. I love to read and learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Jewish faith. However, at fourteen I began to have questions that were difficult to find answers to. I was introduced to LDS missionaries by a wonderful family member and realized from that first meeting with them that their message was true. It touched me in a way that was undeniable. At nineteen I served as a missionary as well, in Bolivia. That priceless experience cemented for me the love of my Heavenly Father and His Son, as well as the joy that comes from serving others and sharing what I have come to know. These blessings have come full circle as our son serves as a missionary in Russia, in the very area in which my grandmother was born. I want to share my personal witness that Christ lives, that he loves us with a capacity we do not understand, that He is the perfect, living Son of a perfect, living God. We are God’s children and he has established a plan for us to return to live with Him and our families, if we follow His guidance. I’ve found doing this is not a burden but fills my life with great joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

My religion is inseparable from who I am. It effects every decision I make, because I have found my Heavenly Father is very eager to help when I go to Him in Prayer. Our children have been raised to believe in a loving God who truly cares and is active in blessing us, and in His Son who made it possible for family ties to last through eternity. The gospel has been essential in our home as we struggle with common family challenges, strive to keep our children safe in an ever-threatening world, have faced the heart-ache losing a child, and work to strengthen our relationships. As a member of this church I have had numerous opportunities to serve others and share the joy and peace I’ve discovered. This has only increased my gratitude to my Heavenly Father.
