Hi I'm Sister Cardenas

Peruvian. Passionate dancer. I spread smiles and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm originally from Peru. I migrated to the United States when I was 12. I'm the oldest of 2, I consider my brother as my twin. Dance is my passion. I love classical ballet and I also enjoy dancing Peruvian folk. Dance is one big blessing in my life. It has brought me a sense of who I really am and it has been my outlet as I faced life challenges. A talent given to me by my Heavenly Father to help me in this journey and to bless others. I love being happy and smiling! I'm a firm believer that our happiness is dictated by our decisions. We have the power to change our circumstances and change our selves if we put our trust in Christ. I love being around people, seeing the good in everyone, and helping them discover their true potential. Each person that I come in contact with has something unique and special to add to my life. I love to learn and showing my love! Love can truly change us and the ones around us. I love spending time with the people that I love. I have great friends, and a wonderful family that has influenced my life in so many ways. Even thou they may not be perfect they have taught me to be the best me I can be.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, my grandparents were the first members of my family. Even thou I was raised in the church, I had to come to know by my own that all that my parents taught was true. I could not rely on their testimony no more, I had to gain my own. One of the turning points of my life was when my parents got divorce. I felt hopeless and very alone. During that time I turned to my Heavenly Father in prayer to find peace and confort. As I strengthen my relationship with Him through prayer and reading my scriptures, my faith grew. I asked Him to please let me know if this church was the only true church upon the earth and if the Book of Mormon was true. At 14 years old he did answer my prayer in a very personal but special way, I could recognize that it was the Holy Ghost testifying to my heart that it was true. Ever since then my testimony keeps growing each day. I have expirienced many trials in my life and I have made many mistakes, but I know that through the attonement of Jesus Christ we can be cleansed and be purified if we put our trust in Him, if we have that faith in His power to heals us, He will. At the moment that we reach for His help, He is right there, in that instant, to help us make the necesary changes to turn our lifes around. I know He lives, that He has the power to heal our wounds, confort our sorrows, and gives us strenght to keep pressing forward in life. Our Heavenly Father has given us all the tools that we need to return to his presence, like having prophets that have the power and authority to act in God's name here on earth. That through them, Heavenly Father reveals his will to us and we are guided in this times. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ and as we read from it we are able to feel a greater measure of the Spirit of God in our lives and we can learn more of His plan for each one of us. We can come to know if this things are true through prayer, asking God with a sincere heart. I know He will answer.

How I live my faith

I love to participate in church and community cultural activities. I enjoy sharing my culture through dance which is a big part of who I am. As I share my talents I have the oportunity to let others know why I am truly happy.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Sister Cardenas
Taking care of our bodies is important because it is creation of our Heavenly Father. We have been given this body as a gift from Him. We are like His work of art, and He expects us to take care of it while we are on this earth so that His spirit can dwell in us. Our bodies are called temples because a temple is the house of God and His spirit can only be on holy, pure places. Our bodies are like temples, as we keep them clean of all harmful things the Spirit of God can dwell in us more abundantly and as we have the Spirit, we can feel more of it's influence in our lives, and we will be able to be guided by our Heavenly Father.
