Hi I'm Shauna

I am the mother of 5 children and the household manager. I am a photographer. I love baking and eating what I bake! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Idaho, even though it was not on a farm, I learned hard work. I graduated from college and worked for software companies teaching computer software. I love anything that will make our lives better! After having my first child, I explored my life long love of photography and became a self-taught photographer. I now have 5 children from ages 16-4. They fill my days with cooking, cleaning, driving, grocery shopping, praying and most of all love and laughter. I enjoy their personalities. I love seeing them grow and progress knowing they are not perfect, but walking along a great path back to God. The best days are when we laugh and I see my children playing and laughing together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS household. I was taught christian values and grew up knowing and loving the Lord. When it came time to go to college I lived off of my childhood teachings and the testimony of my parents. My second year of college I found that I needed to give a stronger foundation to my own testimony. I did this by reading the Book of Mormon for myself. I made a commitment to read each day without fail so that the consistency of the scriptures could grow my spiritual muscles. I had read the Book of Mormon several times before, knew most of the stories and had several scriptures memorized, but this personal commitment to read it blessed me with the knowledge that God lives and loves each one of us. He knows us individually and wants us to be our best and be happy. I have found that I am the happiest when I am giving back to the Lord for the blessings He has given me. I am the happiest when I am living the principles of the gospel taught in the LDS church. I have lived it (not to perfection) but I know in my heart it is true.

How I live my faith

I participate in our local congregation by teaching the 6 & 7 year old children Sunday School. I love preparing lessons about Jesus Christ and other gospel principles. They are smart children, but they are also teachable. I found that when I testify that Jesus Christ is our Savior that the spirit is there and it touches all of us in the room. I love having a bond with these children. I see them in my neighborhood at school and at church. They know me and I know them. . . and we love each other. This is the spirit of Christ working in our lives. We will help each other through our daily lives, through the good days and the bad days. I have taught church lessons for the women and young women. I have worked with the younger boys through the scouting program. I have taught music to the young children and I have even been a full time missionary. I love sharing the gospel and living it.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

I believe the Holy Ghost can bless the life of anyone seeking righteousness. In the LDS Church we believe that the "gift" of the Holy Ghost is given to a person once they are baptized. When we live righteously we will be guided in our daily lives. We can seek the Lord and he will answer our prayers through the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost will give us impressions in our minds, help us recall scriptures, and help us to feel that a decision is right. I knew definitely wanted another child, but it wasn't happening. My husband and I approached the Lord in prayer and within a day we both had the impression "no, not right now". I just knew in my heart that that was the Lord's will. I could live with that. Two years later, I still had hopes of another child. It wasn't until then that we were blessed with our 5th child. She is a great addition to our family, indeed a blessing and she came at the right time. The Lord's time. I was able to wait with confidence knowing that this was what the Lord wanted. The Holy Ghost has helped me with large decisions like this and others, for example what to major in at college, whether I should go on a mission, who to marry and what jobs to take. The Holy Ghost has also helped me find my car keys when they were lost. These are all answers to prayer and blessings because I seek after them in trying to live righteously. I try to give back by loving and serving the Lord. I believe in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
