Hi I'm Jake Halladay

I'm a father of four with a fabulous wife. I fly-fish, golf, and run triathlons. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and am the youngest of four kids. Throughout high school I never went anywhere without my skateboard, except to an occasional football practice. I also learned how to play golf and fly fish while growing up. When I left for college I attended a state college in Utah and joined the rugby team since they didn't have a football program. I met my wife because she took pity on me when I was walking the halls of school with my arm in a sling from breaking my collar bone during a rugby match. We now have four kids and live in Orange County working in Private Wealth Management.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because it's true. The Church teaches the truths about Jesus Christ's gospel and the leaders of the Church are chosen by God and receive revelation from Him to guide us. I was born into the Church but when I was 18 years old I had to decide if I truly believed in all the things I was taught as a child growing up in the Church. I read the Book of Mormon sincerely and asked God if it was true, and I received the answer that it was. As I do my best every day to live the gospel of Jesus Christ I find myself being happy and live with a positive hope about the future. I know that I'm not perfect but I believe that Jesus Christ lives and died for my sins in order that I can repent of my mistakes and return to live with God again.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and participate in the various meetings. At our church I help the missionaries that have been sent from various parts of the world to teach about Jesus Christ here in Virginia. In the past I've worked with the young men, ages 16 and 17, and help guide them by teaching them about the gospel of Jesus Christ and what they need to do to be righteous and virtuous men. I also play on our local church basketball team. We have games against other LDS churches in the area and have a tournament once a year.
