Hi I'm Lysje

I grew up in Missouri. Served a mission in Germany. Currently study at BYU. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy rugby, tennis, hiking, jogging, and any other forms of physical activity. I enjoy reading and playing my violin as well, especially fiddling. I am going to a wonderful university in Utah. I am heading into elementary education. I have lost loved ones--a brother (at birth) and a wonderful cousin in a car accident quite recently. I know the atonement is real, and their deaths have only increased the knowledge that I have that I will see them again some day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, so many wonder if I truly have my own testimony or if I'm just a Mormon because my parents are. For a while, that was exactly the case. It wasn't until I was about 15 years old that I received my own testimony, my own desire to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I had always read scriptures growing up. I was very familiar with them. But, when I was told to actually do as said in the Book of Mormon, and ask of God if it was true, I asked. And it wasn't some major experience, one where light filled my vision or I saw Heavenly concourses of angels. It was a simple, burning feeling that only confirmed that the Book of Mormon is true. The feeling filled my whole frame and I wanted to tell everyone I knew to read that book and to feel what I feel. It's almost indescribable the happiness that I feel whenever I read the Book of Mormon and go to church and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I go to church every week. I place my God first in my life, then my family, then everything else. I try to help and serve others in every way that I can. I attend the temple every week where I worship the Lord and serve those who have not had a chance at making the saving ordinances. But the biggest way of how I try to live my faith is by every day reporting to the Lord of how the day went and every day try to be better and every day try to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

A husband and wife can be together forever. This was made possible through the coming of Elijah on April 3, 1836 in the Kirtland, Ohio temple to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. Elijah restored the keys of the priesthood, which gives the sealing power to seal in Heaven and on Earth. Because of this, we also believe that families can and will live together in heaven, as long as the sacred ordinances are kept and covenants are not broken. Show more Show less
