Hi I'm Cody

I'm Cody, I'm a student at the U of U, and am currently serving a mission in the Arcadia, California mission!

About Me

I grew up in Utah almost all of my life. I come from a wonderful family of six; my two parents, myself, two younger sisters, and one younger brother. I love the mountains, sight seeing, and the outdoors. I love to draw, and play the guitar as well as piano. I am currently serving a mission for the church in Arcadia, California. Before I was called to come here, I was attending the University of Utah in the Pre-Dental program majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. I love the sciences and working in labs. Most of all, I love reaching out to people by doing kind acts of service.

Why I am a Mormon

Why not? It only makes sense. I grew up in the church with my family. I went to church every Sunday with them as well. I took the challenge of one of our former prophets, Gordon B. Hinkley, to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year 2008. I read it, and prayed to know for myself if the book really is true. I felt an overwhelming feeling inside of me. There have been so many blessings in my life from living the Gospel principals. I know and have witnessed the change that these teachings have made in the lives of others as well. The more I study and learn about the Gospel, it only makes sense that God would talk to everyone in the world, not just those in Jerusalem. We know through John 10:16, after Christ ressurrected, He said to His apostles: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold, them also I must bring. Christ was talking about His people, not just in Jerusalem, but in all parts of the world. We know through the Book of Mormon that Christ in reality visited the Americas. In Galations 5:22-23, it describes the fruits of the Spirit, which is the manner in which God speaks to us. I felt these feelings, and knew from that moment that everything I had read came from God, and that it is, with the Bible, another testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently doing as Chirst teaches in the Bible: To be doers of the word, and not just hearers only. I do my best by always look for ways to reach out and serve everyone I come in contact with. I am serving my Savior 24/7 for two years, sharing with the people here in California the "glad tidings of great joy"

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Prayer. We see today that there are thousands of different Christian churches all throughout the world. We know from Ephesions 4:5 in the New Testament, that there is One Lord, one faith, one baptism. We know Christ established one church while He was here on the earth, 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ;13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. The question is, which church is it? I found out through sincere prayer. We know that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that He doesn't want to leave us in confusion. He is all knowing, and will never lie to us. Knowing this, we can ask Him our deepest desires and communicate with Him through prayer. He gives us answers through the Holy Ghost, feelings of peace and happiness, dreams, and through other people. He always answers prayers. Show more Show less
