Hi I'm Karen

I'm a costume design major and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student going on what seems like my millionth year and second school. I have a associates degree in technical theater which means absolutely nothing. I love to watch movies, especially period movies made by BBC. I love to read when I have the time and can get sucked into a book faster than you can say, "how fast?" I have also developed a love of painting and art that grew from a passionate and determined art teacher. I recently taught myself to crochet and enjoy working with yarn. When I'm not studying I like to spend time with my friends at a quiet restaurant or outside, but that comes too infrequently for my taste. Most importantly I'm a costume design student and have a tremendous passion for sewing and draping fabric. I love to turn a flat piece of fabric into a garment that can be used to tell stories.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the church but my conversion didn't come until just recently. I was at girls camp at testimony meeting when i was young and I was listening to all of the girls talk about how strongly they knew that there was a God and that He loved them. All I could think is that I didn't know if there was a God and that I wasn't sure that there was anything out there but space. I challenged myself to figure out what I believed in a year's time. I read my scriptures daily and studied and prayed to find the answer. It only took me six months. When I went off to college whether I believed this church was the right one or not came into question. However, I couldn't deny God's existence even though it would have been much easier. Peer pressure to to bad things was overwhelming at times. I went to other churches, including Baptist and Evangelical. They were missing something that the LDS church has: the Holy Ghost resides in this church. He's there to help guide and direct you in every way possible. The warmth I felt in the LDS church made it even more evident that there was something missing from the other churches. Now I am an active member of the church and can feel the love of my Father in Heaven and Savior on a daily basis. I am a happier person.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my church. I attend church weekly and participate in the lessons being given. I stand as a witness of my Heavenly Father and give my testimony in any way I can. Sometimes I bring up the conversation of God in my group of friend just so I can share my testimony.
