Hi I'm Maria Erickson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 6 terrific children with an equally terrific husband! I was a stay at home mom for many years and now work at the local elementary school as an aide. I am taking a class to get my CNA license and look forward to working in a care center or hospital when I am finished. I have a daughter that is married and has one year old twins so I have discovered the joy of being a grandma! I have a son serving a mission and find much peace and happiness when I read his weekly letters and emails. I love to read. I love to play games of any kind. I love to take trips and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the doctrines and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints make sense to me. I was raised as a Mormon but just as anyone must - had to ultimately decide for myself if I believed it and if it was right for me. I felt a closeness to God from a very young age and I spent much time communicating with Him as I sought to find out what was truth and what wasn't. I feel He has blessed me with knowledge of truth at that time and continues to bless with me with knowledge to guide my life now. It makes sense to me that God's church would not only have prophets and apostles in olden times but now as well to direct it. It makes sense to me that He would appear to and restore His church through someone of humble circumstances with a yearning and humble heart. The Plan of Salvation makes sense to me. It makes sense to me that God would want us to be part of family units extending backward and forward to help us progess and grow and be supported through this mortal journey. There is much good in many religions but I'm a Mormon because I believe it is the only religion that contains a fullnes of the truths God had in His original church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by serving faithfully in the positions I am asked to serve in in our congregation. I believe Home and Visiting Teaching are so important as it provides the perfect way for us to care for one another and I love paricipating in this program. I try to be an advocate for children and youth wherever I am because so many of them live in difficult circumstances.
