Hi I'm Jim Kite

I'm a native Texan. I work for the Vetran's Affairs. I'm a writer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am what some would refer to as a true Texan. It is my home and I love it. Growing up in Texas makes it hard to not become a sports fan and I am no different. I love to watch football, baseball, and hockey and I'm always up for a pick up game of baseball, softball, football, or ultimate frisbee. Although I have not had anything published yet I am determined writer. It is more than a hobby to me. It's something I want to do for the rest of my life as a profession.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I come from a line of converts. My father was the first person to join the church in his family and he has one brother who followed his example. My mothers father also was a convert to the church as was my maternal grandmothers father. Even though I was born into this church I had to learn for myself of its truthfullness. I was taught the gospel from a young age and always felt that it made sense, but it wasn't until I served a mission that I gained a firm testimony of the truth of the gospel and of my Savior's love for me. That experience along with countless others that gave me a desire to serve a mission and the experiences I have had since returning home have helped keep me firm in my faith in Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and that he has called prophets in our day to lead us. I know that I have a Father in heaven who loves me and gave his only begotten son as an atoning sacrifice for all mankind and that atonement is in effect for me. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today in Thomas S. Monson. I know that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to be an instrument in the Lord's hand in restoring his church in the latter days. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is a companion to the Bible. I know that the two together reveal the gospel in its fullness and will lead a man closer to God when read by an earnest seeker of truth. I know that the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church here on earth and has been restored on its fullness. This knowledge is why I continue to serve in the Church.

How I live my faith

At present I am a ward missionary. This means that I help the full time missionaries in their efforts to proclaim the gospel. Everyday I try to be and example of righteous living to those around me. I have ample opportunity to talk with people about the different activities I'm involved with the church everyday and I never shy away from telling them about those and answering questions they may have to the best of my ability. I try to start off each day with scripture reading and prayer as this helps me focus my thoughts on the days tasks and how best to accomplish them with the Lord's help. I end each day with a prayer of thanksgiving for a day well lived and ask for help improving myself the next day.
