Hi I'm Paul Wheeler

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for 35 years and have 5 children. I am a "retired" Electronics and computer engineer. Retired is in quotes, because like many people, I have been underemployed for several years. I enjoy, most of the time, tutoring at the local community college. It is fun to be able to explain how to do the work, but many times why as well. Most of my students are learning English as a second language (one student speaks 5), and my experience at learning other languages gives me added insight into what they must do, why and how to best achieve their goals. Languages are a hobby in my family, so I sometimes can explain to my students what their particular problems will be, because I understand a little about their own language structure.

Why I am a Mormon

I have never had any doubt about the story of Joseph Smith and his visions. There just was never any real doubt. The same can be said of the Book of Mormon and the restoration and current organization of the church. Everything just makes sense, and is easy to understand.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to be a "good" person and follow the Savior's example, often with mixed results. One of the things that has always tugged at me and my time has been working as a volunteer in the temple. It has not always been easy to give up my time each week, nor has it been convenient to travel the 30 miles each way to work in the temple. However, it has often helped me physically, mentally, and spiritually to face the challenges of the next week. Serving others in the temple has been a great privilege. The temple is so wonderful that I can imagine that this is what heaven will be like.
