Hi I'm Elyse

I am a wife, a mom, a teacher, a nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of four. I have been married for 16 years. I home school my three boys, my daughter is in high school now. I work as a science teacher, a labor and delivery nurse, an IV nurse, and a forensic nurse examiner. My house doesn't stay organized! I enjoy hiking in the beautiful mountains, I play the harp, I try to scrapbook and sew when I have some spare time. I don't like to cook. I do like dogs - we have three and foster a great dane sometimes. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I enjoy the all the different personalities in our home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to follow Christ. I grew up in the LDS church and was baptized when I was 8 years old. I remember praying about my decision and knowing in my heart is was the right choice. If I had the choice to make again I would do the same thing! I love that we have a living prophet to guide us on this earth today. I love that God still hears and answers prayers. I love that Christ forgives us of our sins. I love knowing that we are children of Heavenly Father and how much he loves each and every one of us. I love that we have the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Why am I still a Mormon? Because I know that it is the restored church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth at church right now. I also help out with Cub Scouts. I enjoy the light and energy the young women have and share. They are fantastic examples of courage and testimony. Last summer we went to camp - just the young women. It was so fun. We went repelling off of a rock. The girls went down first and I was one of the last ones to go down. I had ripped a hole in the seat of my pants on the rock and warned them not to look. They told me not to worry, they were ready - with cameras in hand! They make me laugh and smile and remember that life is to have joy. I love the joy found in this life.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is important to us because families can be together forever. Family is a great place to learn and grow - there is so much that my kids have learned - and need to still learn - about relationships with people and communication as well as how to make those hard choices in life - the ones that really matter. We have a child with special needs. Having a family provides a safe place to learn, and it provides support not only to our child but to us as parents - knowing we can depend on each other for support. I am happy to know that I can be with my family for eternity. What a beautiful blessing. Show more Show less
