Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a Mormon. Born in Montana, raised in Southern Cal, have lived in Idaho, Louisiana, Wyoming. Moved to Utah in 1981.

About Me

I am a Father of 2. We have one of each, my daughter is 20 and married while my son is 18 and working. Both are great people that have no idea yet how great they can become. I love to workout with cycling being the activity that I have become addicted to so to speak. Really though, a good hard ride can change my day. I love football, Packers are my pro team while the University of Southern Cal is my favorite college team. I do cheer for all of the Utah college teams with BYU being at the top of the list of in State schools. I go to a few Utah Jazz games a year. Most of all, I like to spend time with my wife and kids. Doesn't matter what we do. Just being together.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess for me, the question should read: How could I not be a Mormon? My mother was baptized before I was born. My father was baptized about a year before he passed away a few years ago. So it was my Mom that always made sure we made it to church. It wasn't until I was about 14 that I started to go on my own without my Mom making me. When I really look at and ponder, so many thoughts come to mind. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, the teachings of the Prophets, and now with the internet there is no end to resources and material to study and learn from. I love the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. But for me, the reason I am here, is because I know that God lives. That Jesus is the Christ who not only died for me, but took upon himself all of my sins. I know these things from the many times that the Holy Ghost has made it known to me that these things are true. I know of Gods love for us and I am constantly amazed at the many blessings that have come to me because of his love for me. I do not count myself worthy of his love and blessings, I make many mistakes. And yet He does continue to bless me and my family. It's because of the things that I have felt in my heart over and over again, that I ask, how could I not be a Mormon?

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my life. Since getting married I have served as Sunday School teacher several times. I have taught 7 year olds in Primary up to 15 year old youth and yes I have taught every age in between. It wasn't till last year that I had the chance to teach an all adult class. Talk about nervous. It's really different teaching a group of people that you can look at and know, that they know more than you. Very humbling. At one time my job was to go to the church every night and make sure all the lights were off and the doors were locked. Sounds tedious, but I loved it. Ever been inside a place of worship late at night by yourself? I also serve as a home teacher.
