Hi I'm Jeff Tingey

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, MBA graduate and new father. I love spending time with my family and new son. In my free time, I love going cycling, especially centuries. I also enjoy trying new restaurants with my wife and sharing our great food finds with friends. I also love music and have a wide variety of tastes.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was raised in the Church, I had to find my own testimony of the Gospel, and of Jesus Christ. I find that I'm happiest when I'm following the Lord's commandments and working to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ. It's not always easy, but it's better than the alternative. I appreciate the confirmation of the Spirit in my life that I'm following the example of my Savior.

How I live my faith

Before we moved from Portland, OR to the Chicago area, I served as a counselor in the branch presidency (it's a unpaid leadership position similar to an assistant pastor/administrator.) I really enjoyed serving the members of the branch and getting to know them and their needs. I helped teach lessons, in the branch. In the past, I've taught the youth and primary. I find a great deal of joy in serving in the Church. I try to have a wide circle of friends both inside and outside my faith. I try to be a good example of how to live one's faith without being preachy. I've found that we have a lot of common ground in regards to faith and religion, and I try to build upon those commonalities.

In whom should we have faith?

Jeff Tingey
We need to first have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It is only by Him and through Him that we can return to our Heavenly Father. If we put our trust in Him, we can accomplish anything. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Jeff Tingey
A branch is a small local congregation that is geographically organized and where the members in boundaries of the branch attend church, worship and fellowship each other. A ward is similar to a branch, just that it is larger and has more members. A stake is a group of wards or branches in a certain geographic area. Show more Show less
