Hi I'm Adam

I'm a missionary in Brazil. I love playing the piano. I played volleyball in high school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I will be serving as a missionary in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the next two years beginning in October. I am eighteen years old and I have graduated from high school. I participated in volleyball all four years of high school, I have played piano for about 9 years, and I helped start a political club at my school. I was also involved in National Honor Society and I love math and science. I have lived in Glendale, AZ with my parents, my older brother who is twenty, and my grandma.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of how I feel about Christ. He is the reason my life is different. The Book of Mormon helps me understand His nature, character, and teachings better. The first time I read the Book of Mormon, I started making changes in my life because I wanted to change the negative influences that were keeping me from being what the Savior expects me to become. By slowly doing that, I have been able to be a much better representative of Him than I was. The Priesthood gives me a chance to specifically represent Him in ministering to the needs of others. The temple helps me understand what I need to do to continue to improve throughout my life. There's still quite a few shortcomings that I have, but I know that through the Savior I can work through them and gradually become more like Him as I invite His help into my life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's kingdom on the earth today. It gives us everything we need to be able to live happily with Him again with our families. If we continue to do all we can to become like Christ and keep his commandments throughout our lives, we will receive that ultimate joy of being able to live like He does, with Him, and with those we love the most. I know that these things are true because I have prayed, fasted, pondered, and studied them. I cannot describe in words how much joy I feel because of these truths and principles. And I feel that this is a message that everyone needs to hear because of how happy it can make you feel and how much it will change your life in the best way. That is why I am consecrating these next two years to share these things with the people of Brazil.

How I live my faith

Most of how I live my faith is seen in the kind of person I am. I try my best to lead by example in my community so that people will notice something different and special about me when they interact with me. Most of my friends and acquaintances know that I spend lots of time throughout the week participating in church-related activities like family history, temple work, youth activities, reading my scriptures, praying, and so on. This leads them to be curious about the Church and why I devote so much time and energy to it. Hopefully, they will feel that I represent the Church well and that there is something special to be had there. I want those close to me to know how I feel about the Savior and His Gospel and how important it is in my life. That is why I am not shy about speaking up for my beliefs and convictions.

What is the priesthood?

To me, the priesthood is the power and authority to act in God's name in administering blessings to those in need of them, performing church ordinances, and administering the sacrament. The sacrament requires significant preparation namely preparing, and blessing. This power should not be taken lightly. Those who hold the priesthood should emulate it well by being a good example. Priesthood holders are also given certain duties such as keeping the church clean, and visiting families in the ward. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, each person in the church has a duty to serve others regardless of their background because that is what the Lord Jesus Christ did throughout His life. We strive to follow His example. How hypocritical would it be if we who try to follow the Savior who served all people everywhere and then we ourselves only helped those of our same religious background! Show more Show less
