Hi I'm Joe
I'm a writer. I'm adventurous. I'm a Mormon.
I am a regular Joe (pun intended) from a small town in Northern Utah. I am 19 years old and loving life! I have wonderful family and friends who have always supported me in my interests and goals. I love to write and I love language. I try to use my language to show my love to God. I try to "let [my] conversation be ... the gospel of Christ" (Philippians 1:27). I am inspired by the very creation and majesty of the Lord every day. I have many hobbies such as biking, hiking, writing, and acting. I've currently serving a full time mission for the Church, and have been called to serve in the México, Mérida mission, which encompasses the states of Yucátan, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. I'll be preaching the Gospel in the Spanish language, which is a welcome and exciting undertaking. I will be there for 24 months. Once home from that mission, I intend to study medicine and specialize in the field of cardiology. I am excited to see where the future takes me.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I've found Christ's fullness here. I truly know this is His church. As I've matured and grown throughout my life, I've come to understand the role of Christ in my life, but such a desire was always there, waiting to be nurtured. I came to know Christ as others invited me to draw near to Him. I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 8 and my family are all members of this Church. During my early formative years, I did as most youth do, which is to say I took a stab at rebellion. I wanted to see if the grass was truly greener on the other side. I found it wet, brown and savoring of an unsettling aftertaste. So, I had a decision to make. Do I look for another life outside the one here at home or do I put the beliefs of my childhood, of my parents, and of my community to the test? I did just that. As I read the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible, I received the wonderful testimony once again that Jesus is the Christ and that His Church has been restored.
How I live my faith
In the Bible, we read: "Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" (James 2:22) That's how I live my faith. I allow it to change me; I allow Christ to change me. As I follow the example of Christ and do good unto others and love my fellow men, I know that my faith is made perfect.
