Hi I'm Nate!

I'm an engineer, a missionary, and (you guessed it) a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. Also known as, the coolest place in the world! I was adopted into the best family in the world when I was just a few days old. They put up with me for 18 years before sending me off to be a student at BYU Idaho. When I’m home I love to make and ride skateboards, surf, eat, read and be crazy (but not too crazy). When I’m at school I am a robot with the sole purpose of pumping out good grades. Currently I am serving as a missionary in the Illinois Chicago mission!

Why I am a Mormon

Originally, I was a Mormon because my parents are Mormon. That reason does not hold much weight anymore since I have been independent of my parents for a while now and still try my best every day to live up to the moral standards of the church. I know that by living the gospel, I can be happy. It sounds pretty simple, almost too simple. Live the way that the church suggests, and find happiness. But I have tried it, and I know that it works. The words good and true are synonymous. Throughout my entire life in the church, I have found everything in the church to be good. I know that the church is good. I know that the church is true.

How I live my faith

Right now the biggest way that I live my faith is by serving as a missionary for this church. I have set aside two years of my life so that I might invite others to recieved the restored gospel. I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve and to show the people that I am serving my love for them.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Nate!
The missionaries are very friendly. They will never try to convince you that you are wrong and tell you why they are more right. They will teach you our message which is the restoration of the gospel and how to bring your live in closer harmony with his teachings, and they will ask you to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it as well as to attend church so that you can learn the truth of our message for yourself. What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Nate!
As a member of the church I believe that I am saved through grace. I do not think that I am under any obligation to earn heaven. However, one of the blessings of being a member of the church is to be able to LEARN heaven. Through modern day teachings and revelation we are able to see how our works can bring our lives in closer harmony with how the Savior would have us live. In this way, we are not only saved by grace; but we are also changed by it. In the scriptures we read that, "for we know that it is by grace we are saved after all we can do." I think this scripture tells us that there are things we need to do and there is grace we need to use. After we do everything in our power, we still need Jesus' grace. And it is there for us. Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Nate!
From Jesus' teachings in the Bible we learn the importance of "One Lord, One faith, and one baptism." Part of the reason Jesus was on the earth was to organize his followers. Surely he did not want us to all believe slightly different things in millions of different congregations. He wanted us to be "One fold, and one shepherd." For this reason he gave his apostles the authority to baptize. "And no man taketh this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God. as was Aaron." (Hebrews 5:4) Show more Show less
