Hi I'm Jason Dickey

I'm from Maryland. I served an LDS mission in Las Vegas. I love people and sports. I'm a pre-med student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jason and I'm 23 years old. I'm a college student hoping to go to medical school. The human body is a miracle and testifies to me of God's love for his divine creations. I hope that I can help to heal others physically one day and specifically help those who are in need of encouragement and hope. I have grown up playing and love all kinds of sports. I mostly played basketball and soccer through high school and love competing with others. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the state of Nevada, USA. I had the opportunity to meet thousands of people in the Las Vegas and Reno areas, and I invited them to find happiness and joy in drawing closer to the Savior, Jesus Christ. Those two years spent in service of God were some of the happiest of my life because I saw and helped others change their lives to live in accordance with Heavenly Father's commandments. This, in turn, brought about their happiness and will lead to their eternal progression until they can one day return home to their loving Father in Heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon, or member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for many reasons. First and foremost, I have gained a testimony that God has restored His church to the earth through a modern day prophet named Joseph Smith. I know this is true because I have read the Book of Mormon, and asked God, the source of all truth and knowledge, if the book is true. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, He has taught me of its divinity and complete truthfulness. After coming to know this Church is the true and living Church of Christ, I have lived the principles taught in it and have learned for myself that they are good and true principles that help me become a better person and to serve God and my fellow men and women. And ultimately, I think that's what it's all about! I have asked myself if this religion helps me to be happy and find peace and give me a purpose in this life- and the answer has always been yes. After learning these things, I have wanted to share these truths with others throughout the world, which is why I'm making this profile!

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? This comes through in my day-to-day living. I do simple things such as reading scriptures and praying daily. Since I was fourteen (14) years old I have participated in hometeaching, where I visit other members of my church congregation at least once a month to support them in their personal lives and provide a spiritual message to help them for that month. Many of the callings I have held in the church have been involved with planning fun activities for the congregation. We have done things such as holiday parties for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc, as well as service activities, dances, games nights, etc. I currently am part of a young adult congregation (ages 18-30) and serve in the "friendship committee", where we seek to unify the members of the church so that all feel involved, cared about, and needed. These are just a few examples of how I live my faith, but ultimately the reason why I serve and choose to live my faith is because I have developed a personal relationship with the Savior. I strive to come closer to him each day, and hope that I can lead others into his open and forgiving arms.
