Hi I'm Kirtis

I grew up in New Jersey. I was Lutheran. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of 4 amazing children. I joined the Church when I was 11 or 12 with my mom and 2 brothers...the choice was mine to join. I had some ups and downs until I decided to go on a mission. I went when I was 21, to the Peru, Trujillo Mission. It was the one of the best choices I have EVER made. My life changed.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 10 my mom was divorced from my dad. He left and we never saw him again. My mom, a very devout Christian and originally came up through her life as a Baptist, decided to find a church that "fit" better. My brothers and I went with her to all these churches. One night, at a political funciton, my mom turned to a lady and said "We are looking for a church to attend"...this lady happened to be a bishop's wife. Thus began our journey. The missionaries visited and taught us the gospel. The clincher for me was when we visited the ward building one Sunday. It was about an hour drive, but when we arrived and entered, I had the distinct feeling I had been there before. I had, in a dream, some 6 months before. I grabbed my mom's hand and showed her where all the pianos were. I KNEW they were there...I had seen them in a dream. Seems insignificant; pianos...but it was an answer to me that I was supposed to be there. I also pointed out the bishop, as the pastor, to my mom...for I had seen him, as well. A few weeks later, with bumps along the way, we were baptized. 11 years later, I was a missionary, in Peru, teaching the gospel of life to others. I KNOW this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I have asked, multiple times, and have been answered, multiple times. I KNOW this is the path back to our Heavenly Father...and true happiness comes from living it, happiness here and in the life to come. I KNOW that we can all be together again...not for just "'til death do you part"... It is not easy always. This life is a test. But, He gives you the answers and shows you the Way. You CAN succeed...and LIVE.

How I live my faith

I currently am a teacher on Sundays...I teach 10 and 11 yr olds the gospel...and they teach me... I am a big kid, too. They are amazing, built for this time, for these days. These will be our leaders. I am also the Employment Specialist in the church in our area. I help people who are unemployed or underemployed with resources to find employment. These are callings I don't get paid for...that is the beauty of the Church...all clergy, teachers, help, is voluntary. I have always said that this Church is not a church of convenience, it is a working church. You must LIVE the gospel, every day...not saying I am great at it...but it is my life, not something I do. Because of it, I know who I am: a child of God. I know why I am here: to gain a body, learn the truth, and live it, share it, and be tested. And I know where I am going: back to my Heavenly Father, if I do what he asks, and endure to the end, thanks to Jesus' atoning sacrifice. I want my whole family to know this.
