Hi I'm Sheri Clarke Young

I'm a Mormon. And I'm an artist in 2 mediums......Oils and dough! I have a passion for impressionistic works and bread.

About Me

I have 3 grown kids they havemarried and started their own families.I devoted my earlier yrs to raising them. When they left I struggled with what my days were to be filled with. I am happiest when I am creating and soon discovererd now I could devote more time to those things.I oil paint usually with the figure in my paintings. I consider myself a bread snob though my husband says I am a total food snob...meaning I know and love food. I love camping, hiking and just being ouside. I love digging in the dirt and seeing things grow. Especially I enjoy the mutual interest I have with my daughter of trying new recipes and emailing pictures of all things food across the United States. Of course my greatest joy is having my family come home to visit bringing all the new little additions with them. Thank Heaven for texting, emails and face time that allow us to stay connected with each others daily lives. I love to travel, see new places and meet new people.

Why I am a Mormon

My Mother was born a member of the LDS faith and sent my sister and I to meetings with out her. When I was around 8 my dad wanted religion. He had the missionary lessons, was baptized and we all started attending. I can't remember a time I didnt just know the Heavenly Father was there. I know my Heavenly Father lives and loves me. He has shown me daily throughout my life as I make mistakes again and again he still is there for to me. The scriptures speak to me and answer my pleadings and questions. I know the Book of Mormon and Bible are the words of God they witness Jesus Christ and speak peace to my heart. Through the great gift of the Saviors atonement I have joy and strength through hardship and know my life has purpose. I know the reality, power and truth of this his gospel and church upon the earth. Am I perfect? No! But I am a better person, wife, mother, neighbor through the Savior. As I pray to my Heavenly Father and study the words of his prophets, living and through scripture, my witness and commitment grow stronger.I know this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I will live with him again along with my family. Life is good!!!

How I live my faith

Every morning I start fresh as I turn to Heavenly Father through prayer. I find myself in tears many times speaking to Heavenly Father who loves me and already knows things I wish I could hide. But as I do I feel a renewed strength and commitment to try again. I think over time I am becoming a kinder more sensitive person. With more desire to be a better person. I try to spend time reading the scriptures everyday. There is a power I feel. My days are better and I feel such a joy and peace in the mundane routine of life. I've found I paint better when my spirit is at peace. I love instrumental music playing in the background. I know we all have hurt and history that make us who we are. I love to get to know people's story. I have great friends who have come by looking beyond first immpressions. I teach our adult scripture class on Sundays. I am not a professional teacher but I love the scriptures and grow so much as I learn. I cook and share with friends, neighbors and those in need. I love being a Mother and Grandmother, I am a women who loves my life as a homemaker. I try to acts of kindness as I am aware of the needs around me. My husband and I have been through what most married people do, the ups and downs of life. With the gospel of Jesus Christ, his church and our commitments we love each other more deeply than we did 33 yrs ago. Our married kids have seen that hard work and commitment bring a strong loving family. That is the accomplishment that holds the greatest value in my life.
