Hi I'm Lis

I'm a college student with a chocolate obsession. I'm a journalist. -And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying journalism and political science. I'm teaching myself how to longboard-with mixed results. Recently I took up rock climbing, and want to climb Yosemite someday. I love being outdoors- even if the allergies don't like me. Currently I am on a quest to try all the different produce at the grocery store, and am on the lookout for dragon fruit.

Why I am a Mormon

Once, I had a conversation with a friend of mine who had questions I didn't know the answer to. I replied that I do not know all things- yet. I know the Gospel is true because of the way it makes me feel. When I pray to my Heavenly Father I feel his loving guidance in my life. When I keep God's commandments and follow the teachings of the living prophets I feel peaceful, and a feeling comes that I am doing the right thing. That is why I am a Mormon. I heard it once said that if you do not understand something, put it to the test. Try living like a Mormon, and see how it can change your life for good. I have no major experiences or angelic manifestations in my short life so far that converted me. Rather, my conversion to the Gospel has come quietly, slowly, and naturally. As I keep the commandments, read my scriptures, and pray daily, my beliefs are affirmed. If you have questions about who you are, where you come from, and where you are going after you die, then read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Study what the prophets have said, and then humbly ask God if it is true.

How I live my faith

I love teaching! Being a Sunday School teacher in my congregation was the best job I ever had. I have also taught classes on family history work, and was president of a class of teenage girls when I was 18.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I was a teenager, I attended summer camps for the youth of our church. They always gave us alone time to study, reflect, and pray. I remember taking my camp chair into the woods and just leaning back to take in the sunlight shining through the beautiful trees. It is when I am in nature and observing the vastness, the intricacy, and the beauty of Earth that I know God lives. He is the Creator of all things, including you and me. Show more Show less
