Hi I'm Ammon

I'm a piano and outdoor enthusiast, I am currently serving a two year mission in Nevada, Las Vegas and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young man who is very enthusiastic about life! I try not to get discouraged because I know there is so much joy to experience here in this life! There is truly so much to be grateful for. My favorite hobbies in this world are generally experiences I can share with others such as, rock climbing, camping, hiking, fishing, free diving, climbing 14ers (14,000ft Mountains), wind surfing, long boarding, slack lining, sailing and many more. I am a strong believer that Joy is something that is meant to be shared. I have been lucky to have friends and family (especially my brothers) that will indulge in these activities with me. I am also a music fanatic. Everyone knows that my most favorite thing in the world is the piano. I consider the piano my emotional anchor. I find great joy in composing, arranging and recording music. I believe that music speaks to the soul. I currently enjoy sharing my passion for people by my work at a funeral home. As much as I enjoy being happy and passionate about life, I enjoy just as much the opportunity to serve, love and bless those who have experienced the hardship of losing a loved one. After losing my four and a half year old nephew to cancer in 2010, I have been able to relate and empathize much easier and it becomes my privilege to serve those in need as I was served through that trying time. In short, I love people, I love the beautiful outdoors, I love music and I am grateful to live, laugh, love and learn everyday!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for several reasons. The first and most important to me is that I am genuinely happy when I am living the gospel. The beginning of my testimony started as what I phrased "I know it’s true because when I am living the teachings and commandments of God, I am happiest, and because I am happiest when I live it, I know it’s true." I believe that we are here to experience joy. Although without those hard trials we experience we couldn't truly appreciate the joy. Just like a roller coaster at a theme park, you can’t experience a fullness of joy without experiencing hardship. How fun would a roller coaster be if it was on a horizontally flat track? No fun at all. This spiritual mentality has given me strength to know that even though I may not know everything yet, I know it brings happiness, just as Christ promised. Another reason I am Mormon is because I know that this church is founded on Jesus Christ. Just as in the ancient world, we have a living prophet who guides and leads the church. We have 12 apostles as there were with Christ's original church. The power of the priesthood has been restored to the earth. All the ordinances of salvation as found in the bible are present in their correct form today restored by a Prophet of God. I have felt the Spirit testify to me of the truth of these things. I have read the Bible entirely, I have read the Book of Mormon through and I have prayed to know if they are true. I testify that they are and that this is Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I've had the honor to serve in many capacities in my church. As a musician, one of my very first callings was to be an organist. I loved having the opportunity of setting a spiritual mood before a meeting. Sacred music speaks to my soul as nothing else does. My current calling is that of a full-time missionary. Even though it has always been my joy and love to share what I believe, I am now specially equipped to do so by the power of the priesthood that has set me a part as a missionary. I have felt the spirit give me extra strength to more boldly declare the things I know and believe. Having an uncommon name like Ammon has given me many opportunities to share the gospel. Ammon is the name of an incredible missionary in The Book of Mormon. So when people ask me where my name comes from, I get to share that wonderful connection. I am always looking to better follow the example of Ammon in The Book of Mormon. I encourage you to read his story. He started out as a rebellious young man that fought against the church of God, but through the power of God, had a change of heart and became a powerful instrument in God's hands. His record can be found in The Book of Mormon in Alma 17-26. Just as Ammon, I try to live my faith by exemplifying my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to serve others as he would if he could be here to do so. I testify that Jesus Christ lives and that His Atonement is transforming. My life has been forever changed by Him and I will gladly declare His message.
