Hi I'm Dwain Porter

I grew up in Prescott Arizona, a world War 2 veteran, a Biology Professor in South Carolina and Georgia, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I graduated from High School it was either be drafted or enlist, I joined the Navy and traveled around the world. I play the piano and organ in church meetings whereever I lived. I married Marjorie just before getting out of the Navy, we were married for 60 years before her passing. We had 7 children. I got my BA from the College of Charleston, my MA and PHD from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. I was a Biology Professor at several colleges and universities. My passion was teaching speed reading with students reading 10 to 1000 times faster. After my wife passed away I married Margie So now I have 2 Margies.

Why I am a Mormon

My great great grandfather joined the church in 1830, the year the church was organized, the family members since then have reamained active in the church, so I have been a member all my life and held many leadership positions in the church. Ihave had many spiritual experiences and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that everyone is a child of God, and that we lived with him before coming to this earth. I am thankful that families can be forever.

How I live my faith

My life has revolved around activity in the church, right after receiving my doctorate I was called to become a Bishop. Later when living in the south teaching at a college there were no organized Mormon churches in the area so we got permission from the church to hold meetings in our home, For six years there were 16 in attendance 8 of which was my own family. Where ever we lived I held leadership positions which gave me experiences that enriched my life. Having a family has brought many happy moments and has enriched my life so much.
