Hi I'm Kaitlin Chase

I grew up in Southern California, and I am majoring in Early Childhood Special Education. Most importantly, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a Sophomore up at Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho. I am majoring in Early Childhood Special Education. I come from a family of 7 siblings, and I am the second youngest. I love to cook, and I love doing little crafty things. I love trying to make new things, whether it's food or some sort of scrapbook. I love to read, and I love watching movies. Music is one of my favorite past times, and can always cheer me up. Currently I am preparing to serve a mission, where I will be able to bring others to Christ for the next 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, and so I have had the privilege to have the gospel in my life since I was born. My mom is a convert, but joined the church before she was married. I am not a Mormon because my parents are. I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I come from a family of 7 children, and not all of us are active in the church anymore. Two of my older siblings left the church, but for me the gospel is what I need. It makes me who I am today. I love the gospel, and I have seen what peace and happiness it brings to me in my life, especially during trying times. I know that this church is true, and I have seen the blessings that have come from living the gospel. Most importantly, I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior, and I know that He loves each and every one of us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through everything I do. I do not pick and choose when I want to act as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. With the words that I speak, my actions, and what I don't do, I am an example to everyone around me. One big thing that I love to do is service. I love to help others that I know who go to church, as well as those outside of church. Service is something that helps me forget about myself and think of others. It always brings me joy. In the church you will receive different assignments, and as of right now I do not have one. I was recently however, a visiting teacher. A visiting teacher gets a list of a few ladies in the church, and you go and visit them once a month to make sure they are doing okay and you get the privilege to share a short message with them. My first semester up at college I was called to be a teacher for all the ladies, and I was blessed to teach a lesson on Sundays. Now, I have the privilege to serve a mission for 18 months, and teach others what I believe.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Kaitlin Chase
Mormon Temples are used for a couple different reasons. First of all, the temple is a very sacred place where members of the church can go to feel the Spirit of the Lord. It is a place where oftentimes one can feel peace, and receive answers to questions. In the temple, we have the sacred privilege to be married. We believe that we are married for time and eternity, in other words, forever, even after we die. When we are married in the temple, our children are connected to us, and we are a family forever. Even if something happens to us, we will all be together again. Another blessing we get to do in the temple is to do the work for those who have died who have not had the gospel. For example, we can perform the ordinance of baptism for someone who has already passed away, so that they can have the opportunity to hear and accept the gospel in Heaven. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kaitlin Chase
There are many ways to come to know our Father in Heaven. The first is to pray. Prayer is our way to communicate to Heavenly Father at any moment of any day. We can ask to feel of His love. Second, we can read the scriptures which testify of God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. By reading the scriptures we can come to know and understand who God is. Third, if we obey and do what we are supposed to by keeping his commandments, then we are brought closer to God. When we become closer to God, we begin to understand and feel of His love. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Kaitlin Chase
You can know if Mormonism is true by praying to God. God knows the thoughts and intents of your heart (Hebrews 4:12), and if you earnestly pray to know if it is true, God will answer you (James 1:5-6). Along with prayer, you can study and read from the scriptures to gain a better understanding. You can ponder what you learn, and read, and then pay attention to your feelings. You will feel peace, comfort, happiness, or maybe some sort of burning feeling within your heart. This is called the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost testifies of Christ and lets you know know what is true (St. John 15:26; 1st John 5:6). Show more Show less
