Hi I'm Chuck

I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. during the 1950's in a traditional catholic home and now, I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am married and father of three. This October 15th we will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary together. I am a BYU graduate with a batchelors degree in secondary education. I taught freshmen world studies for eleven years but returned to my law enforcement roots and have since retired as a probation officer. I joined the Marine Corps in 1967 and later served in the U.S. Navy as an Aircrew Survival Equipmentman (Parachute Rigger) at NAS Lemoore, Lemoore, CA. This is where I joined the church at the age of 25. The Hanford, CA ward became my family until I met my wife at a young adult activity in 1977.

Why I am a Mormon

It is said that the Lord works in mysterious ways and he does and I'm an example of it. I was working in Texas as a police officer in the early 70's. My little dog got out and ran next door to the apartment complex. I chased after him and found him running around the inner courtyard playing with another dog. A couple was watching them and laughing. That couple and I became friends and my life changed. They were church members and gladly taught me about the restoration of the gospel. Sometime later I re enlisted in the Navy and was sent out to California. One Sunday I found the local meeting house and came across a gentlemen reading his scriptures in his truck and asked where I might find the Bishop. After being introduced to the Bishop I told him I wanted to be baptized. It took a while to complete the discussions but I was finally baptized which lead to a temple marriage in 1977. I have never looked back since.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best person I can be and keeping the savior always in my thoughts as I go about daily life. I try to share the joy I have in my life because of the gospel and the church as often as I can. My association with other church members over the years has made me a more confidant and patient person. It has brought out qualities in me I didn't know I had and improved on others. What I have in my life today is all because of the many blessings I have received from my Heavenly Father for following His plan. I still have much more room to grow as a person and church member. It is by far the best thing I have ever done in my life being baptized a member.
