Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon. I believe in God the Eternal Father and in his Son, Jesus Christ, who both love us more than we can ever imagine.

About Me

I'm eighteen years old and am a High School Graduate. In November of 2013 I will begin my mission to Cincinnati Ohio. I can't wait to serve! I live in West Haven, Northern Utah. I live in a rather rural area with a quiet peaceful atmosphere and good neighbors. The best part about where I live are the beautiful mountains. I enjoy going to school and learning the secrets of the Earth, and I love to attend seminary and learn the secrets of God. I firmly believe that Science and Religion prove each other true, and that both should be studied side by side. I've recently found a love for writing, both stories and poems. I love the inspiration that comes to me as I write, and I am grateful that I was born a writer. When I am older I hope to be able to become a professional writer as well as a Seminary teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. For a long time it was just normal for me, but as I got older I started to think more about why I was a member of the church. I began thinking about why I continued to attend church, I began to wonder why I continued to go to priesthood quorum, I wondered why I read the scriptures. And then came my answer: The reason I continue to be a part of this church is because it is what makes me truly happy. The Gospel teaches principles and doctrine that not only leads to a righteous life, but also an amazingly happy one! The Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me and others around me accomplish things I never thought possible! For example, these last nine or so months I have been battling severe depression and anxiety. It has been extremely difficult on both me and my family, and I know that I would have never been able to do it without my church. Without the restored Gospel of Christ, I would not be here today. I would have committed suicide years ago. I literally owe every blessing in my life to the gospel of Christ, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

How I live my faith

I do my best to attend all church meetings. I go to seminary and come prepared with a notebook so that I can write down impressions or questions that I may have. I try my best to be positive influence on my family. Right now I take religion classes at the Ogden LDS institue, and I am preparing to serve a mission in a couple of months!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is what allows us to have a true joy in this life and the next. Because of the Atonement we can repent of our sins and experience a mighty change of heart. The Atonement can heal the deepest of emotional or spiritual scars. My favorite scripture on this subject is in Isaiah 53:3-5: "Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows...he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.
