Hi I'm Samantha

I grew up working on a farm. I love my family. I play the Saxophone, piano, and guitar. I love art and photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student working towards a photography major and a history minor. I grew up in a small town working on a our family farm where we raise beef cattle and a variety of crops. Farming and ranching was a way that i was able to spend time with and bond with my family. I love animals. I love music. I play the piano and saxophone by ear. I also just started learning to play the guitar and I love it (all my free time is spent practicing guitar and taking pictures). I love school. I was very blessed to grow up in a great family, with two very supportive parents, 3 younger siblings who i am very close with, and to live close to my relatives and grandparents. Family is extremely important to me, and I love my family very much. In high school I was really involved in speech and debate, theater, musicals, plays, FFA, i was a teachers assistant in a history class, volunteered at a veterinary lab, showed steers at the county fair, volleyball, track, and Agriculture Science sterling scholar. One of that best things I have ever done was being a mentor to young adults with disabilities. I am now attending my university on scholarship. School was never really easy for, me but i worked really hard and was successful. I have dreams of traveling to different countries, of completing a photography graduate program and receiving a masters, and to one day have my own family and be a mother. I have just recently started submitting and showing my photography in art galleries.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member because I know this is the true church, and I know this because I have felt it. I can't help feeling an over whelming feeling of peace and hope whenever i share my testimony of this gospel with people. I know that I have a loving heavenly father in who not only hears but answers prayers, and he loves each one of us because we are his children. If we follow the commandments he has provided for us, study the scriptures, let the atonement work with in our hearts, read the Book of Mormon (which testifies of our savior, Jesus Christ), love and serve those around us, follow the council of living prophets who are servants called by our heavenly father to lead and guide us through difficult times, then we can return to live with him one day, we will find true happiness, and we will have to opportunity to see our family members who have passed away and live with them forever. I also know Joseph Smith was a true prophet called of God, and that the church was restored through him and for us. If you read the Book of Mormon and you pray about what you have read after, you can know what I know with out the shadow of a doubt, that the gospel is true. You can be happy. You were not meant to be alone, you were not sent here to this earth to fail, you were sent here to learn, grow, be happy, and you are important. When I pray to my heavenly father, if i am reverent and patient, i can feel him let me know that he loves me. There is a true peace that comes with living the gospel and its commandments that cannot be found anywhere else. I am a Mormon because I know this is the true church and I cannot deny what I know is the truth. I would be lost with out the gospel in my life, I know I have a purpose and a direction.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. I would hope that my example/day to day life is an indicator of what i believe in. I believe in families, honesty, integrity, service, kindness, happiness, hard work, gratitude, opportunities to receive education and knowledge, faith, divine nature (that I am a child of God), Individual worth and the worth of all individuals, virtue, self improvement, and choice (the ability to chose right from wrong) and accountability. I attend church every Sunday because that is where I want to be. It is a good place for me to learn, grow, develop a better relationship with my heavenly father, and learn from other members who share similar beliefs. I also have made a commitment to myself to live free of drugs and alcohol. I am not perfect but i try to set goals for myself and work on them day to day. I believe this life is a time to become and work towards the best version of yourself that you want to be.
