Hi I'm Yvonne

I love chocolate and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always had a hard time answering the "about me" section of any questionnaire because I feel like I am evolving as a person. The constants, though, are that I am a daughter to my parents and a sister to my siblings. I love my family very much and that is something that has influenced the person that I am today. Many of the decisions that I have made in my life have been greatly influenced by my family. I have lived in several countries and have experienced a multitude of cultures and the one enduring truth that has come from these experiences, for me, has been the important roll that family plays in life. I would like to say that I am a person that enjoys life, I know that we all face challenges and things don't always go our way, but overall I have enjoyed and hope to continue enjoying life.

Why I am a Mormon

The technical answer to why I am a Mormon is that my parents said it was the thing that we were going to do, I was 11 years old at the time and so did whatever my parents told me to do. But that was over twenty years ago and that does not answer why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today. Why I have continued to be a member of the Church is difficult to pin down to one reason but I would like to share a few of those reason . I obvious answer is that I believe it. I have taken the challenge of reading the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and have received answer that confirms to me in my heart that it is a true book. I have always known that God is real, I have always known that Jesus is His son and Savior of the world but through my membership in the Church I have received greater clarity of what that means. I have a context of how this knowledge applies to me directly. Family has always been important to me and now I understand who I am in relation to God's family. I know that more than just being this unknown entity somewhere out there in the Universe, God is my Heavenly Father. He is aware of me as an individual, He knows me and wants the best for me. I know in real terms that Jesus Christ is my brother, that He too love me and wants the best for me and is rooting for me to make it through this life in a positive way. Whenever I read the scripture in the Bible in John I know that it is a powerful testament of just how much God loves each and every one of us. As I have grown up in the Church I have seen the difference the Gospel of Jesus Christ has made in the lives of individuals and families and that this Gospel, when lived correctly can make a difference to all of us no matter where we live in the world. I have often tried to imagine where I would be if I was not a member of the Church and I realize that it is impossible to say because my life has been changed for the better in so many ways I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I have been fortunate enough to work in the Church in a variety of capacities, but my favorite has been as a teacher. I have taught everyone from little three year-olds to the oldest in the congregation and each teaching experience has brought with it it's own challenges, but has given me so much joy and a love for the Gospel that I would not have gained otherwise. Teaching has helped me to learn so much and has strengthened my belief in God and in my purpose for being here.
