Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon. I was raised in the church, served a mission in Peru from 2004-2006 and was sealed to my wife, Danielle, Jan of '09

About Me

I am 27. I have been married for three years and recently we had a little girl, Riley, who is amazing. I love the gospel, and I love to talk and discuss topics. I don't like to contend. I love to read - thanks to Harry Potter. I am a movie goer and enjoy very much a good flick. My favorite sports team is Dallas Cowboys. I like to hike and enjoy camping. I really love snowboarding.

Why I am a Mormon

I have prayed about the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and the present day Prophets and leaders of the church. I know through the Holy Ghost that the church is true and that the Book of Mormon is a true, inspired book. I have had many personal experiences with prayer, with sharing the gospel message with others but I know that if someone really wants to know, wants an answer, they need to read, inquire but most importantly pray and ask Heavenly Father, God, the Lord (or whichever title you prefer). I am Mormon because of the knowledge of who I am, why I am here and where I am going. I am Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a true, living Church led by Jesus Christ himself via his called - by inspiration - Prophets and Apostles.

How I live my faith

The church is so much more than Sundays. It is a daily way of life. It is in everything I do. I wasn't always perfect because no one is, but I live my faith one day at a time. I share with those who would like to hear, discuss religious beliefs with anyone willing to talk. I really don't like to contend because it leads nowhere. I recently was blessed with a daughter, and knowing that if we follow the commandments and fulfill our covenants, my wife and I can be with our daughter always. (We do plan to have other children, but not quite yet). I strive with daily studying of the scriptures - Bible, Book of Mormon, Pear of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants. But mostly, I try and follow the Savior. He had charity - a pure, unconditional love. It is hard at times to love like did and does. I don't always, I won't say that I do, but I am trying.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Dan
This is the single, most important event in the world. Jesus suffered in the Garden, paying for the sins, pains, transgressions, sicknesses, anything that every single person in the world has, does, and will feel. In some way, he was able to walk the life of every person individually. Later, his own sufferings and abuses reaching a climax upon the Cross. The final part rests in the glory and power of his Resurrection. Through those three things, also referred to as the Atonement, he paid the demands and price of justice and through our diligence and obedience to his commandments, we can be forgiven, cleansed and freed from justice, but we must do all we can. 2 Nephi 25:23 Show more Show less
