Hi I'm Jacqueline Rasmussen

I'm from Las Vegas, NV. I'm a college student in Hawaii. I'm preparing to serve a mission in Brisbane, Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV. I'm the oldest of four children and all my siblings still live at home. I now live in Laie, HI and attend Brigham Young University Hawaii. I am majoring in Chemistry Education. I want to teach high school science classes after I graduate. I love living in Hawaii and surfing, swimming, hiking, and cruisin at the beach all day. I am preparing to serve a mission for the Church in Brisbane, Australia. I report to the Provo, UT Missionary Training Center on April 10th. I can't wait to serve the people of Australia, and hopefully help bring them to the happiness that I have through this Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it gives my life direction. I was baptized at age 8 by my father. My parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles were always great examples to me of faithful church members. I'm a very independent person so this didn't stop me from questioning things and needing to find out for myself if this gospel was the truth. I came to realize that when I lived the values of the gospel and obeyed I was happier then when I didn't. I also knew that my little siblings were looking to me as an example and I wanted to give them the best I could. They motivated me without knowing they did it. I started to be better about living the gospel then I ever was before and as I did I was happier and my life started to have a bigger meaning. Through living the gospel values for my siblings I was able to gain the personal testimony that I have today that this is the only complete and true church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I go to a church-run school, so I am surrounded by other people of my faith and I love it. We have fun activities all the time with the people we live around so that we can have fun together and share our common beliefs. In my ward I teach a class about family history on Sundays, where I help members trace their genealogy. We work with familysearch.org and help create family trees. We then have the opportunity to help members of our family who passed away with out hearing about the gospel and getting the opportunity to be baptized and receive all the other blessings that come with our church membership. We find those people and then help them by bringing their names to our beautiful temple in Laie. We feel so blessed to have the temple so close to us in our small town. I am now also preparing to serve a full-time mission for the church in Brisbane, Australia. I can't wait to serve people, and get to know all I can about Australia. All I want to do is bring people the happiness that I have in my life through my membership in this church.
