Why I am a Mormon

This is certainly a popular FAQ at social functions! Simply, it brings incredible joy to my life. I wake up every-day with peace and hope because of my faith. Some have questioned whether its blind faith, but when you see the amazing good that is done with your faith, see lives change for the better, see the happiness in your family's life, and your own life, you cant question it, because you see faith working every day. It is honest, it is true, and it is real. Life can be hard, but being a Mormon seems to make it that little bit easier, to make better choices, to quickly pick yourself up when you fall, to pray for help, to cherish life and to “come what may and love it”.

How I live my faith

Mormons live good lives, love family, love healthy living, love hard work, love helping others, love honesty, love prayer, love family history, and most importantly love Jesus Christ, he is the center of our religion. This is how I live my faith, by doing all these things and smiling along the way. Being a Mormon is not just a Sunday religion, it is a daily commitment. I love attending a study group with other youth from our local church each Wednesday. We learn more about our relationship with God and Jesus Christ, about how to be a better young man, Young woman and friend in the community and we spend a lot of time laughing and sometimes even crying! I volunteer my time with the youth of the church, we have an activity one night a week, class time on Sunday as well as camping trips, dances and other fun adventures along the way. We teach each other about how to embrace individual worth, how to live their faith, make good choices, gain knowledge, give service to others, have integrity, be accountable for their decisions and enjoy the journey. It is hugely rewarding.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Igbinobaro Victory
The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Fathers plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true Show more Show less
